Avoids Fury, and pounds that scrawny Usyk to a pulp. Would that be a better win than Fury's win over Deontay Wilder?
Povetkin does have lot of wins over alot of solid B level contenders. But I'm not sure he could take on old grandpa Ortiz and his trusty walking stick.
Fury's dominant wins over Chisora, Wlad & Wilder are better than a win over a blown up cruiserweight looking for an AJ payday.
Wlad was 39 years old (whether you accept it or not, timing and speed decreases with age) and Fury ducked the rematch...Wlad couldn't use his embarassing punch and clinch tactics against a bigger guy. Wilder is a basic right hand with athletic and length attributes that make it possible for him to land. Wilder was losing every round of the Ortiz fight (Ortiz who is definitely older than 40), and looked shaken the round before he clocked Ortiz. Get your tongue out of his ass you biased weirdo
39 year old Wlad could have beat the whole of the HW division with one hand behind his back in 2015...excluding Fury and would have took AJ on another 50:50 war. You're the biased one. Wlad could comeback tomorrow and stop Pulev/Povetkin in under 8 rounds. Probably stop Whyte also. Wlad was a great champion for many years because he knew how to beat these smaller plodding heavyweights with a jab and a clinch & could still do it today. He retired after accepting the new gen of superheavys Fury and AJ could manhandle him. Could have took on the AJ rematch and probably had a good % chance of beating him but mentally knew it would be a battle of attrition yet again. AJ's second wind in that fight is what truly scared him off. Wlad doesn't have that in him anymore.
Wilder is a more proven heavyweight than Usyk. Yes, Wilder took the path of least resistance. Yes, he's one dimensional. But, he did manage to have a stranglehold on the WBC title for a few years. Usyk would need to rack up a few more heavyweight wins before we can say he was a better heavyweight than Wilder.
No matter what happens these 2 need to fight to establish the battling boxing Brits pecking order. No reason for it not to happen next.
Because he wanted to scalp back the belts Fury relieved him of... the only option was against AJ for good money. Wlad isn't fighting people for no belts... Wilder didn't want to know about him.
Nah, Usyk would play with Ortiz and TKO him late on. Ortiz looked gash against Hammer and I doubt he's much of a threat to anyone in the top 10 now.
