Im sure you have all heard FLoyd is apparently seeking a bigger purse than manny if they end up fighting. I dont know how reliable this information is but IF thats the case its obvious pacquiaos camp will never agree to this.

I think Floyd has RIDICULOUS ppv numbers over his career. But over the last 2 years i think Manny has become just as big of a draw as floyd has. Besides, if the fight takes place the reason so many people will buy it is coz it will be NUMBER 1 VS NUMBER 2. Not because floyd mayweather is fighting, or coz Manny pacquiao is! They are literally bringing an equal amount of attention to the table so 50/50 is the only fair way to go.

Now floyd was reportedly happy with 50/50 before the fight fell through coz of drug testing. SO i assume he is using his ppv numbers of Mosely to demand the higher purse. Although 1.5 million buys is immense, with the promotion it had and the predictions that were made regarding the numbers, i was surprised it only sold 1.5 million. So i dont think that fight with Mosely is enough of a reason to demand the higher purse? Moreover, if manny is already agreeing to a 14 day cut off, to put the fight in jeopardy coz of the purse would be idiotic! In a 50/50 split they will apparently get $40 mill each, theres no way floyd makes anywhere near that in any other fight out there, so surely money is not the reason he wants the majority?

The only three reasons i can think of why floyd would put the fight at risk for a higher purse are
    1. He thinks manny has stopped juicing but his body still has the benefit of the drugs he used previously
    2. Its just mind games and a power struggle and ego
    3. Hes ducking manny and never wanted the fight

I personally feel its number 2. I do have faith in floyd and i think eventually the fight will be made with a 50/50 split. But i think he just wants to play mind games and psychological warfare hes so good at. And i also think ego has a big part to play here.

    What do you guys think?

It is probably just about ego and negotiating. Floyd will believe he can get a better share of the money even if it comes down to 51-49 but i think Pacs camp wont budge till its 50-50 after they agreed to the testing

All I know is, it's not ducking.

Manny's not ducking Floyd and Floyd's not ducking Manny.

Both believe they're the best fighter on the planet. You don't get to the level they're at without having unwavering, unshakable confidence in yourself and big, f-ing ego.

So if the fight falls through it falls through-- but it won't be because one is ducking the other.

floyd said after the mosley fight that the drug testing has to be random up until the fight. So i have no idea why pac's camp agreed to the 14 day cutoff. It's a dead issue. You claim that floyd cannot make 40 mil in any other fight, but he just did that w/ mosley. Plain & simple floyd has the better ppv numbers so he wan't the lion's share.

The split should be nothing else other than 50-50, bottom line.

Mayweather brings in more money and sells more PPVs, so he should demand for more money. It's not hard to understand.

No he doesnt. Bring in their latest big fights, Pac-Cotto did 1.25mil, PBF-Mosley did 1.4mil. Factor in the massive promotion behind PBF-Mosley, the overall profit probably works out the same.

    55-45 in favor of $

Let's not forget emmanuel decided to hurt his stock by ducking $ to go fight The Great Ghana Joshua Clottey which resulted in a mere 700K.

Why should Mayweather take less? He's the proven draw. Anyway, if Mayweather can make more fighting others, that is what he should do. Boxing is a business, the fans are secondary. Everyone wants to see them fight, but didn't everyone want to see Foreman fight Ali again?

Mayweather has the highest selling PPV average of all time behind Tyson, he also has the 2 highest selling non-Heavyweight PPV's of all time, he's outsold Pacquiao with every common opponent, and his PPV numbers against Mosley were better than Pacquiao's against Cotto. When Cotto fought Mosley, he was the A-side of that PPV. Don't try to say Cotto wasn't a bigger name than Mosley, because we all know that he is. Mosley virtually has no fans, where as Cotto has all of Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican fans on the mainland supporting him. Despite that, Mayweather-Mosley still outsold Pacquiao-Cotto. Floyd almost outsold that fight with Marquez. Please go some where with your stupidity today.

I can't see Mayweather doing a 50-50 split. Floyd has more star power and more people know him. It is all about the numbers. If pacquaio had fought mosely would the ppv and hbo 24/7 been more watched. Mayweather wins in people watching him even if they watch to see him lose.
The fight does not happen at 50-50. ODLH already signaled that after the Mosley fight. That is why Arum and his boys are so adamant about doing drug testing and the fight moving forward. That 5% they lost is worth millions..
But it is business. All about who can draw the biggest crowd and the most controversial...
