If the Klitchkos fought like Thomas Hearns, would they become huge in America?

It doesn't even need to be like Hearns.

I haven't seen much of them, but from what I've seen Wlad really bores me in the ring. I don't even like slugfests or infighting -- I like defensive boxing, and my favourite punch to watch is the jab, and even I find his style dull. I think it's because he has a very simple, static approach of jabbing, clinching, and firing off an occasional right hand. Haye is an idiot, but when he called Wlad a 'robot' it did seem to come close to the mark, in regard to his ring style. There's no real flavour there, nothing to catch my eye and make me sit up and take note. Floyd is a good example of a modern defensive fighter who is exciting to watch, at least to me -- it's always a treat to watch his combination of speed, agility and pinpoint, sharp punches. Wlad looks like a guy who is athletically gifted but has more of a docile, passive mindset than the average boxer. I'd expect him to be playing a great game of chess rather than getting in the ring. He's very methodical and effective, but never entertains me in any way.

Vitali seems like more of an instinctive, wild type, a fighter. I was definitely entertained by his clash with Lewis, although I haven't seen much else from him. If there is a lack of interest in him, then I'm not sure why, as he definitely appears to have an audience friendly style.

The lack of competition and other "exciting/interesting/arrogant/accomplished" fighters makes no one talk about their next match, therefore no one ever talks about them.

Look how the media bit in when one guy finally met a few of the above criteria.

There was virtually no competition for Tyson after he beat Spinks but he was packing the arenas. If the Klitchkos were to fight with the kind of viciousness that Hearns did, i can see them being more popular here in the US.

  5. this is like asking if hopkins would be more entertaining if he fought like hamed , retarted comparison

    Yep!

It doesn't matter about the competition. That's just a cop-out.

When Thomas Hearns had inferior competition in front of him, he knocked them the Fuk out.

The Klits are just plain boring fuks, and that's the short of it. i doubt either of those Gym teachers even know how to spell EXCITEMENT.

Doesnt apply to heavyweight Champions which is usually associated with an African American fighter. Lighter weight classes have had a more mixed bag of nations produce champions in recent years than Heavyweight... Larry Holmes was one of the most Boring Heavyweight champs ever and fought in a weaker division than this one but still gets more credit than Both Klitchkos.Mike Tyson feasted on bums and hype jobs in devastating fashion so Supposed "hardcore" boxing fans Claim he'd Ko any heavy ever in less than 4 rounds even though he was Knocked stupid by Douglas in his prime. Lennox beat better comp than both and still didnt get the recognition he really deserved until he left the sport. So yes if Wlad or Vitali were Black Americans they would get more Recognition for what they have achieved at heavyweight. Just my opinion...

they'd be the biggest stars on earth if they fought like Tommy Hearns. Boxing would be brought to the forefront as one of the biggest sports in America and the world. 2 huge ripped terminator muther****ers taking everyones heads off? jesus man they'd be the baddest men on earth and everyone would know it, UFC wouldn't compare and no MMA fighters would want anything to do with them, knowing they'd be in against a giant with speed and power trying to kill you as quick as he can. Thing is they're so above the division that they CAN fight like Hearns and still win 95 percent of the time but they choose safety first.

More accurately, if they "looked" like Hearns.

He fought like that in the Brewster fight and we saw where that got em. If he fought Like hearns every fight he would Gas out or get Knocked out. Why hate a guy for working with his strengths and not letting opponents expose his weaknesses? Also i purely mean if he were a Black American heavyweight he would be more marketable here in America and recieve more credit here, You actually gonna dispute that?

Larry Holmes had hellacious fights with Cooney and Norton among others so your points are not comparable. Tyson was a big attraction because he eliminated sub-par competition in an exciting manner unlike the Klitchkos. To cop out because of race is exactly that, a copout. If Manny Pacquaio fought like the Klitchkos, he would still be fighting for peanuts in Asia.

Cooney vs Holmes was only hyped as a Mega fight to begin with because Cooney was white and "Irish" not because of his skill or accomplishments in the ring.
