Ellis was never linear champion. Neither brother are great fighters. Amazes me that walking statues with very limited ability are given such praise. Boxing is not about being big.

Ughh, really? Do you even watch them? Wlad has great technique, handspeed, footwork and power. He uses his ASSETS perfectly tho I suppose would only be happy if he executed a bob and weave approach to negate his advantages.. He even hooks off the jab to win cute points for classicist crowd. He is undefeated for 7 years of a steady diet of top contenders.

Vitali is just a cold blooded operator...

Size is so overrated. Remember what conventional boxing wisdom (as any proponent of old timers over modern fighters should): a good little man will always beat.a good big man. That is the saying right...

Yeah numbnuts, we like to talk about the versions of fighters that ACTUALLY EXISTED. Not some mythical "Dempsey only he's a natural 220 because he was born 60 years later" bull**** fantasy version made up by dinosaur-huggers because even they, in their heart of hearts, can't imagine a 185 pound man beating Lennox Lewis or whoever.

This is how I see it. I think either Klitschko could beat Ali any part of the 1970's.

They'd beat some of the best and lose to some of the best, just as all the best guys in those era's did.

I don't think Wlad would dominate in any other era than this one. Vitali is tough and awkward enough to spring some upsets but he's the far lesser operator of the brothers IMHO.

Well first they wouldn't have been 240lb men, they would have been about 210lbs-220lbs

A 240-250lb Wlad might beat Ali, his jab and range is that good. I mean Wlad doesn't do too well against pressure or punchers but he does well against boxers. A weaker 220lb Wlad, I'm not so sure, it's interesting

Ali beats Vitali though for sure, too quick

Wlad probably gets upset by a Foreman, Frazier or Liston, maybe he beats Liston though who's slower and more predictable. A 210-220lb Vitali beats Foreman I think but loses to Frazier, although Foreman may do a Lennox on him after being outboxed

    What about fabulous Dempsey-era?;)

Nah, they are both on par with each other as far as H2H is concerned.

Both have different strengths and weaknesses.

Vitali wouldn't get very far I know that much I'm confident of.

Wlad would be a top contender but I doubt he gets above that. Maybe if he got a shot at Liston before Clay he'd have took the crown, I'd favour him to do a job on Liston, but he'd certainly not have a dominant run like he has today.

Both guys can fight and pose different challenges for different opponents .... neither would be 240 plus, that's for sure ... far closer to the mid 220's which is still damn big .. I'm sure both would be extremely competitive with pretty much everybody but I do think Ali and Holmes defeat either brother and a 1960 Liston as well ...

Yeah the gap between thriller and holmes beating norton, I think either brother would gave taken the title given a shot then, I think Young would beat Vitali so he wouldn't hold onto it for long. Wlad would keep it until he gives a young hungry Larry a shot.

Vitali would have the better career. Wladmir would get kayoed a few times. They both would still probably get a title, especially Vitali.

To be fair, Holyfield does have a pretty good chin.
