and the one five seconds before it that set it up? Lucky too?

Kostya must have been one of the luckiest guys around... all those lucky punches...

Larry Merchant: The rounds are just flying by.

Lampley: This is the second round, Larry.

considering he was in line to fight oscar de la hoya and that fight was in the works before his first pro loss, you tell me?

EDIT tszyu never got an 'elite' fight like that after that fell through

Zab got cocky and made a critical error in that fight that changed his entire career.
Just in two rounds though you could see Tsyzu was closing the gap, but Judah was landing bombs on his chin. I think Zab could have won the rematch, but the most likely scenario was Tsyzu by late round stoppage. Judah struggled against strong fighters, but punched as hard as any of them at 140.

zab's downfalls had nothing to do with his opponents.

Who knows? Zab was much better at 140 than at 147 where he fizzled out after that brutal loss.

IMO Tszyu would have been a better LW. He lost some speed and stamina with the added muscle mass at 140.

I cant see Zab beating him over 12... he always looses his focus. He could make it 12 sure and probably doesnt get stopped in the rematch but Kostya is the better boxer and always did well with southpaws. I just cant see Zab being disciplined enough to win consistently over 12 rounds with Kostya.

If he punched so hard and landed all those 1st round bombs, why didn't he win by KO-1? Answer: He wasn't landing bombs. He outboxed KT in the first round, but the last punch landed in the round was a KT straight right. It was a foreshadowing of things to come. And like someone else said, a foreshadowing of every KT-ZJ fight that could ever come. The story was told.

Another thing that's always bothered me about this fight is the opinion, mostly propagated by Max Kellerman, that it was an early stoppage because Judah was up the second time before the 10-count. This was true, but what Kellerman failed to note, because I don't believe he failed to notice, was that Nady had to hold him up the second time. He was falling again, but Nady grabbed his gloves and held him up until he gained his footing. Watch the vid. Without Nady's help, he would've fallen again and failed to beat the count. Yet Judah and Kellerman somehow find a way to blame Nady for the loss.
