If the ref let it continue would Joshua have gassed out again?

HE DID CELEBRATE. He was taunting and smirking at defenseless Wlad and I will never forget such disrespect to great- but maybe spent- heavyweight champion. I am no fan of Joshua and hope he gets his ass handed to him in the future. All that being said, I think the ref did the appropriate stoppage. I didn't like the ref giving AJ the 20 sec rest right after the big right hand.

I actually think the aura of Joshua is gone. Wlad battered him and should have stopped him, a 41 year old man out the ring 18 months. He was hurt multiple times, on hollow legs and holding with nothing left. Somehow he got a second wind late. Don't know how.

Everyone keeps talking about the uppercut, the uppercut, the uppercut... the uppercut didn't knock him down. In other words it looks a lot better than what it actually delivered. He was hit several times before the uppercut. That's all I see is the aftershot of the uppercut, what about a pic of the straight right that pole-axed Joshua and had mumbling, confused and one shot away from being maybe unconscious. He was lucky. Anyone have that pic? The expression on Joshua's face was unforgettable, and believe me that man was gone.

Had the ref not stopped it, Wladimir would have crumpled down to the canvas again within seconds.

Lol just because Wlad nearly put AJ to sleep with a huge right hand it doesn't negate the shot that AJ landed, perhaps you should see that shot again, whilst he never went down from it he was badly hurt,if he wasn't he'd of been able to stop or evade the following knockdowns no?
I know where you're coming from though as I thought he starting tagging him at the end of the 10th.

Me neither although I seen him do it against Whyte where he looked totally gassed but after going back to boxing instead of kill mode he seems to be able to get it back somehow.
On the face of it against a 41 yr old it would seem that way but this was a Wlad we'd not seen in a while and I think he'll learn loads from coming out of that fight, after the first knockdown he was actually celebrating and very nearly in the same round ended up the loser, perhaps we should remember that it was only 3 1/2 yr ago he turned pro and in just 19 fights he's been stepped up nicely,I'd rather see that and fail than playing it safe.

If Furey can get back it's his for the taking I feel.

When I watched the fight live on Showtime, I thought the stoppage was OK, but when I watched the replay on HBO, at a different angle, yes, the ref stopped too soon..............Joshua was hurt much worse in the 6th round than Vlad was in the 11th, when I could seen Vlad's eyes, he was OK, he was blocking the punches quite well, the ref stopped it. I wondered why Vlad looked clear after that stoppage. Also, noticed when Max Kellerman asked Vlad if he could have continued, Vlad said yes, he was OK................Joshua would have ran out of gas, no doubt. Vlad would have stopped Joshua in the 6th round if he had thrown a body shot to the floating ribs, Joshua was still drunk in the 7th round. This was a fantastic heavyweight fight, better than PPV!!!!!!! The fans got their money, really good fight, almost like Foreman/Lyle..................If Emanuel Steward had been in Vlad's corner rather than Banks, Vlad would have gotten the knockout..............Banks is not a good trainer, instead of saying knock him out, Banks wanted Vlad to back off and just box....................Vlad let Joshua back into the fight as a result...............When Vlad was knocked down in the 5th round, Vlad went on the attack, look at the damage he did. The Judges had it a 10 - 9 round in round 5, then 10 - 8 for Vlad in the 6th, judges gave Vlad five rounds in a row.....................Vlad should have stayed on the attack. Rematch? There might be one, after such a fight it would sell out again.............damned good fight............

People talk about that first uppercut but that second uppercut was devastating as well followed by a just as devastating left hook (not to mention a big straight right that started this sequence) for the second KD in the 11th.

As someone already said, the stoppage was at best another good shot away but no need for unnecessary punishment for the 41 year old Wlad.

Yes, HBO's camera angles were superior to Showtimes..................this was a close fight up to the last, if Vlad had not gotten careless, but the rematch will probably be even better............

If you watch the end of the fight in slow motion you can see Wladimir is perfectly lucid, and blocking, and slipping all the shots. Yes Wlad was ready to KO AJ after Josh's offensive, but the ref ruined it.

    Yes!

Just look at Joshua. He got a second chance smelled blood and went all in.

Wlad just started to recover from that smart bomb uppercut.

But the round would still be 10-8.

Joshua with the decison in his hands would have clinch and hold for his life in the12th. But I think he would have done it either way. It was just 1 round to go.

Not so sure about that. Look at AJs arms considering the last sequenses. Wlad was still aware of the situation and held his ground by the time of the stoppage.

With the built AJ has, gassing is a necessity of his blow out style. you simply cant have it all. AJ was more or less gassing in the 11th. Just rewatch it.
