Has he never seen Ward fight? why would you think you have the fight won by the 5th round to me he got complacent and payed the price, not to mention he and his team thought the fight would end by knockout so they didn't care who the judges were. What kind of champ allows three judges who share the nationality of his opponent? One who believes the fight won't get to the end of the 12th round.

 

I guess their plan backfired, they did not know Ward was going to retire so young and still in his prime, BUT they did protect his "0". The boxing experts agree Kovalev got screwed, so now the reasons on why Kovalev got screwed are long and it is up to debate WHY he got screwed. The most basic one is nationalism, to protect their best boxer, their last great undefeated olympic gold medalist against a Russian who supports Putin. Andre Ward is not just any American boxer, he is the ONLY elite level American boxer currently competing. It is not rocket science.

 

Kovalev isnt some rising Floyd like star either, he is some foreigner from Russia, Ward is their golden boy gold medalist , they did him a favor but now Ward is contemplating retirement and the rematch everyone is looking for probably wont happen.
