to be honest I never memorise rounds scores so I'd need to watch it again. I intend to, it being a contender for fight of the year, so I'll let you know shortly.

anyone with strong moral convictions doesn't gamble to begin with. gambling on boxing, (second most rigged sport, behind pro wrestling) is especially stupid. ward is already making excuses to not fight a rematch. if he does, he will only do so if he has all the advantages again.

 

People who think rematch is easier for Ward are fooling themselves. Yes he made adjustments and got some rounds in the 2nd half of the fight, but Kovalev was making adjustments too and boxing with him just fine which resulted in close last 3 rounds.

Ward was good in rounds 7 and 8, you could give him 9 too I think but then round 10 was Kovalev's and the final two rounds were really close. If Ward had "figured Kovalev out" as some people pretend he would have won the last 3 rounds without trouble which wasn't the case.

Also, even if Ward knows Kovalev better now and will be more cautious it's still hard for him to just neutralize a fresh Kovalev in the first 4 rounds even if he knows what's coming.

Kovalev will work on his cardio and will probably gameplan differently in the rematch. The rematch is just as intriguing as the first fight was.
