Nah, honestly - after round 3 - Hopkins-Calzaghe wasn't close at all. Hopkins hardly threw a punch.

It only got close because it was in the US. If it had been anywhere else Calzaghe would have won that fight 119-111 or something like that.

The American surroundings, the commentators etc etc.... gives probably 4-5 rounds.

So a clear win like Calzaghe-Hopkins suddenly gets closer (even in a lot of people's minds) and a truely close fight... may get the wrong winner.

Agreed.. this bout is to big to have any Judging inconsistencies

    This..:deal

Joe had an up hill battle especially being knocked down in round 1 and he still won the fight..

At least the match up isn't happening at Ward's local gym, as per normal. I'm not sure where a fight between Ward and Bute would take place, Mexico perhaps?

If Froch picked up a 7-5 result in real terms, the Judges would probably award him the fight. When the verdict goes down to 6-5-1 or 5-4-3 - he may come up short. Although Ward has shown himself to be a great 12 round fighter, thats generally his game.

The good news is it's not going to matter because if Froch is going to win...it'll be by stoppage, he isn't going to outbox Ward.

The difference is that Ward is a young guy on the way up and is seen as a potential star. People in that sort of position tend to get close decisions go their way - look at ODLH vs Whitaker to see what I mean (not that either guy was a non-US fighter in that one, I only mean in the older fighter vs young potential star respect).
