I'm not saying with out him the division stinks and looks like the Klitchko Era! Just that he was a very big cog in the wheels of heavyweights back then. He got involved in wars, he took on the biggest names, he won the title /a belt at least 4 times, he was involved in controversial fight s that put boxing in the papers again along side his opponents who were big names.
Now you mentioned Bruno, Tucker, Witherspoon.. Good contenders maybe but not ATG s

If Holyfield had been an airplane pilot rather than a boxer then I wouldn't have ever came up with my Holyfield sermon.

I think Holyfield was busy enough fighting
    Tyson
    Foreman
    Douglas
    Holmes
    Mercer
    Dokes
    Moorer
    Lewis
    Bowe
    Rahman
    etc

    No.

The 90's HW division wouldn't have been as fondly remembered without Holy but still would have been head and shoulders above the K-Bros era for entertainment.
Tyson vs Douglas rematch ?? Yeah without Evander it probably happens, if Douglas is in shape mentally and physically he either repeats the win or does enough further damage to a declining Tyson in a losing effort that Mike is ripe to be KO'ed by a Bowe, Old George or perhaps even Ruddock. A further damaged Tyson with all the **** that was going on outside the ring was another KO waiting to happen.

Still plenty of great fights to be had without Holyfield, Foreman vs Tyson may well have happened in 1991 without Holyfield around, Bowe vs Foreman, Moorer, Ruddock, Mercer, Morrison and of course Lewis ?? Yes please. Bowe would have likely dominated the first half of the decade and I believe would have beaten Lewis before Lennox hooked up with Manny Steward.
After that moving into the second half of the decade, Bowe's bad habits outside the ring start catching up with as happened in real life, Lennox continues to improve under Manny and then of course Tyson get's out of prison, without Evander would Mike have dominated the second half of the 90's ??
Hard to say, the speed and power were still there but the technique was not, enough to dominate a division that had begun to decline by 1996 ?? Or would have an improved Lennox Lewis done a similar demolition job on Mike that Holy did ??

I'm guessing Douglas fights 41 year old Foreman or Ruddock and gets ko'd pretty easily.

What you are saying sounds plausible, but you never know.

Douglas might could have taken a couple of easy defenses, or possibly made terms with Ruddock.

Well, Mike Tyson would've gotten his rematch with Douglas. The only reason that didn't happen was Evander was the mandatory and wouldn't take a step-aside fee.

I think Tyson wins the rematch.

Ruddock likely would've been a mandatory in 1990/91. He was rated #2 behind Tyson as it was. I don't know who would've been ahead of him. His fight or fights with Tyson could've been title fights.

Foreman would've been offered a title fight. Holmes wouldn't have gotten a second shot at Tyson.

And we likely would've seen the all Brooklyn shootout for the title between Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe. They grew up in the same neighborhood. Bowe and neighborhood kids used to made fun of Tyson when they were young and called Tyson "Bummy Ike" because Tyson's clothes were so bad.

Tyson-Bowe would've been something. Then again, if Tyson (as champ) still goes to Indiana for the beauty pageant, he'd be in jail in 1992, regardless.

But Evander made the era better. So it would've sucked if he hadn't been there.

    Razor Ruddock kos Douglas.

Tyson regains his title over Ruddock and defends successfully over Foreman. Tyson goes to jail. Bowe bears Lewis for thr vacant title.
