I am just wondering if JMM will be in the HOF. Apparently his career is defined by his performance against Pac. His win against MAB is debatable (past his prime, he got KDed, etc, etc.) Assuming that the Pac - JMM 2 will not happen for any reason, would JMM be still a HOFer?
I've followed JMM long enough to know that he'd be competitive with any featherweight in history, and would most likely beat most. In my view he's a HOF'er! If the Pac rematch does'nt come about, he most likely needs a couple of other solid wins vs the likes of Soto, Guzman, and the like to desevedly secure his place amongst the true greats!
Pac needs JMM. If there is no JMM-Pac 2 then Pac would lose more than JMM. JMM won't be in the HOF even if he defeats PAC, but Pac will probably make it to the HOF if he defeats JMM.
You know, a debatable win over MAB has become tiresome to here. I was debating people left and right in the week that fight happened and was asking them to send us links to boxing writers that had MAB winning! I'm sure there are a few incompetent writers that would have had MAB ahead, but I did'nt get a single response from anybody to send me links! ....and I reapeatedly asked for them in different threads! 116-111 116-111 and 118-109 the unanimous scores from the judges in favor of JMM! What the hell is so debatable about the facts I just laid out??? Its only a debatable win if you believe what HBO feeds you and dont know how to score a boxing match! HBO=Home Barrera Office
You dont believe JMM would make the HOF if he were to defeat, a combination of Pac, the winner of Guzman-Soto, and another solid fighter like say Valero?? That resume right there would imo be better than Pac's resume who is filled with fighters he defeated coming off of losses!
Even if JMM convincingly won against MAB, MAB is still past his prime (although a 'past his prime fighter" who could probably beat anybody convincingly in the 130 not named pac or JMM). Talentwise, JMM is probably one of the tops in history. Yet he has not faced credible opposition and was basically unknown to non-boxing fans. A HOFer is not based on perceived talent but rather accomplishment on top of the ring. I am sure that there are less talented fighters in that HOF, but had faced credible opposition. Which is not the case with JMM.
umm didn't JMM fight jandeng who was coming off a loss from Guzman, Barrera who was probably shot since the Pac fight, now he's fighting Juarez who lost to MAB.:think The problem is, HE'S NOT FAMOUS!! so how can you put him in the hall of fame? his career defining moments are getting a draw with Pac, getting cheap shotted by MAB, getting knocked down by Pac 3 times and coming back valiantly, and not taking 750,000 bucks for 30,000 dollars. Quite a resume...
I was talking about one fight. The fight betwen Pac and JMM. If JMM keeps winning of course he will make it to the HOF. I think he can make it but first he has to do what you just said, same goes for Pac.
Pac's career is/has been difined by Pac's victory over MAB and EM. Before that no many people new who Pac was.
JMM has a very limited shelf-life. He is already 34 and at the lighter weights, age really shows up. So, at most, he will have probably 4 fights left (that includes the Juarez fight). When he reaches 36, he can not cope up with the energy of the younger ones. So, in order for him to have a HOFer-defined career, does he have to fight Valero, Pac, Guzman in succession? At his present resume, is he a HOFer?
