In a one belt universe, how would the heavyweight lineage look from 1980 onwards? Larry Holmes has just beaten Ali for the title. Bowe can't throw a belt in the trash cos there's only one, does he fight Lewis? What' about the K brothers? They can't share the belts...
I don't think it begins to change too much until the mid 1990s. I think Holmes and Tyson may have lost earlier, but probably would have retaken the titles. A lot of the mid 1980s guys who got titles would not have nabbed one, or maybe only one of them (Witherspoon) would. I don't think Weaver, Tate, Coetzee, Dokes, Tubbs and Page are all able to get a title. Maybe two of them touch the title in between Holmes runs. Tyson will Tyson, he cleaned all the belts anyway. No Bonecrusher, No Damiani. I think Evander gets the strap regardless. Then around the time of the belt dump, it becomes really fractional again. I don't think Morrison, Briggs, nor Bentt (obviously) capture gold. I think Lewis would win the fight vs. Bowe and get Tyson earlier and beat him, too. I think both Wlad and Vitali will have reigns. I think Vitali would win 2002. Wladimir would eventually beat Vitali and then probably lose to Joshua as he did. That's my best guess.
