    ...what would be considered golden periods for the original eight weight divisions in the recent history of boxing (1980s onwards)?

    I made an argument related to this a few years back, where I cited a number of examples of how too many classes have impacted the sport negatively and how we missed a variety of golden eras because of it. To give one instance, take the 90s flyweights. Had 105/108 never existed, we could have had Arbachakov, Carbajal, Gonzalez, Johnson, Lopez, Sorjaturong, etc. competing together. Imagine that...

    Bantamweight over the last ten years would've been insane if 122 and 115 never existed.
