Just re-watched their recent fights. Trout looked real sharp versus Cotto. Exceptionally sharp. Alvarez looks decent in all his fights and he certainly packs a pow. But I don't see how he's going to get inside with effectiveness against Trout. Trout smothers really well on the inside and throws short punches. Alvarez kind of needs his opponents to be still for a little in order to be effective. Trout isn't still, like ever.

Alvarez will no doubt be packing more power than Trout, but I don't know if he'll be able to land anything.

Trout v Alvarez really is an awesome match-up. Hope the fight goes through

Do you think it will be very one-sided? Competitive? Will Saul have his moments?

Do you think Trout is legit?

I think Trout is too big, too smart, too southpaw & too fast for ginger. I mean how can you logically think that a protected fighter can all of a sudden beat real jr middleweights when he's never really faced a good 1??

Canelo will have his moments but Trout will own him. And yes, Trout is legit. A big jr MW with good skills, good power and speed that beat Cotto more convincingly than Floyd did ! That says a lot !

but as u say, its a "IF", actually a really big one IMO :yep

All depends if Canelo can nail him hard and often. Otherwise, Trout will win a UD.

I think Ginger does want to fight bigger, better guys. He's just not imposing his will enough on his promotional company. I also believe his power is for real. If Ginger can touch Trout, he'll destroy him. I just don't see how he'll be able to land with much frequency. Trout is southpaw, which always makes things more complicated, and he's got a nagging style where he can sort of position himself outside of direct shots... glancing blows but nothing solid. And he uses his ****ing reach well and jabs often. Very efficient use of tools/skills on his part.

There's no comparison to Floyd/Cotto and Trout/Cotto. Trout has a height advantage, weight advantage, and reach advantage over Cotto. He's also southpaw. He also has a style which doesn't mesh well with Cotto's style.

Floyd was a smaller than Cotto and had about the same reach as Cotto. Cotto's size advantage dictated the pace of the bout and the place of the bout... along the ropes.

The fights were very different because of the fact that Trout's a real JMW and Floyd's a WW (not even a big WW) who fights at JMW sometimes for shits and giggles.

Trout UD, very mobile guy. Seems to fight up and down to his opponents
ala Winky. I believe he has another gear, he showed glimpses against
    Cotto.

You don't think Cotto's style may've just played right into Trout's? I'm not hating on Trout because I do think he's talented. But he's only had one outstanding performance (that I know of), albeit vs Cotto (1st ballot). Whose to say Trout didn't just have a night were everything worked for him? And Cotto's a small JMW.

I also think Trout wins a UD... maybe 8-4? He moves a lot and has excellent positioning. He very rarely (at least in the Cotto fight) put himself in a spot to absorb a full shot. Most were glancing or etc. He's also huge, long reach, frequent jab, southpaw, and doesn't sit still. I just don't see how Alvarez will have the chance to use those rocket shots he's got.

seen more in canelo for me. fought better opposition as a whole (bar cotto obv) just seems to be naturally gifted, has so much experience for his age too, and the power to hurt guys like trout. KO'd more guys than trout has fights.

Not doubting trout (pun intended) but I think he had the fight of his life vs cotto

When I get the chance I'm going to watch more of Trout's fights. I also think Trout may've just had an extremely good night. During the fight Trout looked at least 1 weight class bigger than Cotto. I don't know what that was about.

He won't have the size advantage vs Saul. But his reach advantage is going to be something I see troubling Saul. And his movement. However, if Saul can connect like Cotto did... the damage inflicted will surely be more severe. Saul can ****ing punch.

YOu are kidding me Trout is no defensive wizard he is good rangy boxer with Ok defense but he will get hit in that fight. He will eat the right hand and get hurt here and there and that will be the difference in the fight IMAO
