He destroyed Maskaev??? I guess we were watching different fights. The fight was close until Peter caught Maskaev and the referee stopped the fight following a barrage of punches from Peter. The supposedly weak-chinned Maskaev didn't even go down once... and Peter is considered a huge puncher.
Was his excuse when got rocked by Maskaev his eardrum too? Let's face facts here. Peter almost got knocked the **** out by a guy Wlad totally destroyed in McCline.
Wladdy KO 15% Wladdy Points 72% Peter KO 9% Peter Points 3% (possible if Peter KD's him multiple times, but Wlad makes it through) Draw 1% (same as above)
by the way...could anyone make a gif of wlad being ko...it looks very fun seeing that tall dork falling
I give Peter credit for taking on anyone. But I have never been impressed with him as far as calling him a dominant fighter in heavyweight division. Maskaev was old and even slower than he was a few years ago when they fought. It was still competitive and Peter took a few good shots that if Maskaev was capable of following up we may have seen a KO or at least a longer fight? Peter doesn't have the speed to surprise Wlad and get to him early, which is what he needs to do. I also don't feel he has the punching power that some feel he does. He has heavy hands and he is physically strong which gives him some power, but he doesn't by any stretch of the imagination have Wlad type one punch power!! Wlad will keep him at bay with his jab and follow up with straight rights and the occasional double left hooks that will eventually take Peter out! Peter does seem to have a good chin so it may take some time, but with patience Wlad will eventually win the fight and IMO most likely by KO!
I believe Wlad would stop him. In the first fight Wlad was holding back on a lot of his punches (not all of them) just trying to win rounds which he did win every round that Peter did not knock him down in. I think Wlad will go full throttle on him from the start and KO Peter around the 8th round or so. I do not believe Peter will get past even a 75% Vitali Klitschko but we will have to wait and see first.
First off, Peter will not beat Vitali, not on his own merit anyways. Maybe if Duva hits Vitali with a folding chair when the ref isn't looking, ala Jimmy Hart. But seriously, to entertain the question; Wlad would fight a much more confident fight the second time around and would KO Peter inside of 8 rounds.
He was rocked by Maskaev man, I am a Peter fan too and he's my favorite heavyweight right now but can't deny what I clearly saw. He was hurt there, backed off, then came back but was a bit wobbly and had to hold on for a second as Maskaev was looking to land more.
