lets say both mayweather and pacquiao go on to continue their careers without fighting eachother. both men legacies will suffer. first off, imagine how many great fights you would have missed out on if other fighters in the past, present and future, behaved like these two guys. futhermore, if the dont fight, it will be remembered when you look back at their careers.

For Mayweather: mayweather has been the most critsized fighter in many years and cosidering how good he is, its amazing. some of the critisim is fair, some of it isint, but bottom line, a fight with pacquiao will earn him respect then hes ever gotten up until this point as pacquiao is probably the most dangerous opponent he ever faced.

For Pacquiao: pac gets alot more respect mayweather of course due to his better resume and the way he beats his opponets. Barerra, Morales, Marquez, Dlh, Hatton and cotto. those are six impressive wins over six class fighters. but here the problem. most of those guys dont rank incredibly high on all-time p4p lists. they dont rank higher then mayweather. mayweather is better then all of them. futhermore they are all offensive fighters. the question still remains, how would pac do against a great defensive fighter? would he get picked apart, would he overcome the defensive fighter. people have come up with mythical match-ups like pacquaio vs. srl or pacquiao vs. pernell Whitaker, etc. how can you know how pacquiao will do against those two great slick boxers if pac hasnt even fought fought a great slick boxer of his own generation.

Both men will retire p4p greats but if they dont fight eachother, imo, neither will be in the top 40 or 50 because it will prove both men were scared to lose. P4P greats fight eachother, palin and simple, not argue over blood tests

FOR PAC AND MAYWEATEHR, THE ROAD TO P4P GREATNESS LEADS INTO EACHOTHER
BOTH MEN WILL HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT AND THEY WILL EVENTUALLY FIGHT AT A LATER DATE

I won't mean **** for Manny's legacy. He has many options left open to him.

It will damage Mayweather's legacy, but not fatally. FMJ has very few credible options though, IMO.

A win against Clottey and a win or good showing at the very least against the winner of Mosley v Berto will leave Pacquiao with a very nice legacy. At least nobody could question the mans balls.

    Yes it will.

But whats more important, if it does not happen (I still think it will go on). What's next for both men is critical.

If Floyd fights someone like Tim Bradley, Shane Mosley or Paul Williams, then he can be rectified, if he fights Matthew Hatton then..... yeah, I'll save my words for that.

Manny Pacquiao fighting Yuri Foreman is a farce, a paper belt with a titlist that beat an overweight Daniel Santos, historically this will damage Pacquiao if it was to be his last fight.

If these 2 clowns dont ever fight, they should never be mentioned again in any boxing discussion because this is not a cowards sport.... that goes for both of these drama queens.

ok, you guys have mentioned some names. clottey, mosley, berto, bradley stick out. but here the thing, out of the bunch mosley is the best fighter but you do realize the man is near 40, mayweather and pac are in their prime. clottey is a good fighter but has come up short in his two biggest fights. mayweather and pac has exceled in his big fights. berto is a young talented fighter but still kind of unproven. pac and mayweather are proven p4p no 1. fighters. bradley is probably the best fighter at 140 not named pac but would you say he better then pac or mayweather. pac and mayweather are still bigger threats to eachother then any of those guys with the exception of mosley but mosley's problem is that his time is ticking.

they might not question his "balls", but they will question whether or not he was using PED's.

IMO, Pacquiao will be remembered as the person who won 4 lineal titles and became champion in 7 different divisions. A lot of people are backing Pacquiao and they agree that it's Mayweather's fault that Pac-May isn't going to happen. Pacquiao will be remembered for his trilogy with Morales and his fight with Barrera and the controversies between him and Marquez. A lot of people are ranking Pacquaio second only to Sugar Ray Robinson.

On the other hand, in the future when they look at Mayweather's resume they will notice the names that are missing that he should've fought. You're right a lot of people are calling him a duck"er" because he hasn't fought anyone that the people(fans) want him to fight. He made a lot of excuses to avoid other fighters. He will probably not even be ranked at the top 50 even though he is a very talented fighter.

The 3 legendary Mexicans Morales, Marquez and Barrera are not offensive boxers. They are master counter punchers(well maybe Barrera isn't but he looked good countering Hamed's assault when the fought) especially Morales and Marquez.

It'll definatly hurt Manny's legacy. People will always question why he didn't want the random testing.

I don't think so. Manny is already have a reserve seat for one of the G.O.A.T . Mayweather on the other hand needs to fight someone that is good for his legacy.

I'm talking here about their RESUME not Media Paparazzi BS

If anythign this will make Pac look bad.
Heis the one accused of using steroids and he does not want to prove them wrong.

All history will remember if it does happen is that PBF wanted fair drug testing for BOTH and PAc said no so the fight was never made and Pac never had random drug testing.

Thats what the lil asterik is going to say on boxrec or wikipedia in 10 years if the fight doesnt happen.

If the fight doesn't happen, it won't even be mentioned on boxrec. It'll barely be a footnote on wikipedia.

I keep telling people: Legacies are built and shattered in the ring, not outside.

barrera, morales and marquez are or were skilled fighters but none of them are slicksters, defensive wizards like say a mayweather or a pernell whitaker. the verdict still remains how he would do against a fighter of that sort. the best counter puncher hes faced were morales and marquez and those are the two guys hes struggled with the most. and the statement about being second to srr is the very reason he has to fight mayweather. how in the hell can you be the second p4p greatetst fighter of all time and not fight the best fighter of your generation?
