    Apparently my bad Swag.

I definitely wasn’t confusing the KO of Ingo but I really thought I recalled seeing some twitch in Hasim’s right leg as at the time.

Perhaps it was just the initial reverb on his leg from his fall but I couldn’t find a replay to uphold my recollection.

Thanks for pulling me up on that - I don’t want to circulate fake news. :D

Yes, prisoners of the moment. I would say that fighters fighting less these days lends to fans pivoting more on single outcomes and putting more weight on them. Zero loss records have never been more disproportionally revered than they are today -

The rematch is absolutely bizarre. Not the fight itself but the extraordinary credit Lewis receives for dispatching a throw away opponent. Had Lewis iced him the first time around (as well he should have), he’d have received less credit than he ultimately did.

Losing the initial encounter forever distorted peoples’ view of Rahman & elevated him drastically above his capabilities. It ain’t that good a win to beat the guy, simply.

I think Rahman is a bit underrated he had 41 stoppages in 50 wins that's a big puncher.

He KO'ed Lewis, stopped the very dangerous Sanders, and should've had a decision win over Tua but was robbed.

I consider the Tua fight to be a W for Rahman because it was such a poor decision. So if you look at it like that then wins over Corrie Sanders, Lennox Lewis, David Tua, is not too shabby at all. Rahman actually went 29-0 before suffering a controversial stoppage loss to Tua.

I think the only thing that detracts from Rahman is losing convincingly to Maskaev twice for whatever reason he had Rahman's number. I don't know why Rahman couldn't put away the very chinny Masakev with his power but for whatever reason he couldn't.

I still don’t rate Lewis as highly as most people and this fight is part of the reason. I thought he was a hot and cold fighter - on his day, he’d be a match for anyone in history but he could also look pedestrian and lackadaisical. I mean, you could make a similar argument about Muhammad Ali in the 70s, I suppose, but I don’t think Lewis ever had Ali moments in his career. He’s someone who is easy to overrate and underrate - it’s weird. I may be in the latter camp but I watched virtually his whole career (well, 1991 onwards) and he was probably best described as an enigmatic fighter.

I agree, not just the Rahman loss but the McCall ko as well lowers Lewis some.

    Or you could say

‘The Past is history and the Future is a mystery, live and enjoy the Present because it’s a gift. That’s why it’s called the Present.’ :deal:

Not sure who said that first? Maybe William Shakespeare or Fred Flintstone?

I agree with you about Rahman, but what's your scorecard of Tua vs Rahman 2 ?
I thought a draw was fair (if the knockdown happened one second earlier it would have counted).

They were both way out of shape in the rematch. I don’t see it as a resume builder for either.
