Why did he take that strategy of making weight is my question mark.......his big advantage in the matchup was the size issue, and that he would outweigh Pacquiao by a couple of weight divisions.....

Why DLH would wantingly be at the welter limit or below weeks before the fight is mind boggling and ridiculous.......but knowing what he officially weighed and what he stepped into the ring in at, it looks like now like it could have been planned that way......

Could it have been because Freddie Roach insisted that DLH weight 147 lbs fight time??????

Roach had actually said something to that effect weeks before the fight, "I wont let my fighter fight if DLH walks into that ring over 147 lbs."

......everyone in this forum thought Roach was talking about the official weighin.....but maybe he was talking about actually DLH's weight in the ring, because remember, Pacquiao was climbing up two weight divisions from 135 lbs where he had only fought once there at 135 lbs.

When it was discussed in this forum of DLH's claims to being at or under the welter limit weeks before the fight......I remember ridiculing DLH and calling him a damn liar and saying it only to hype the fight.

In fact, I even went as far to to claim that Pacquiao would destroy DLH if it was the case that DLH was already weighing 147 lbs weeks before the fight.
    .....my prediction came true!:deal

Stick to mayweather threads because that is all you know!!! Infact, you adeptly defended his choices of opponenets because they are bigger money fights.....

How's your political science degree???? I am sure that you have a lot of practice in copying and pasting articles, so stick to that one. Original ideas are not exactly your forte.

THey allowed it to happen. They allowed Mayweather to pay a measly 300 thousand dollars for every pound he was above 144. But because JMM signed the last minute change of contract to the welterweight limit of 147, with penalty clause above 144, the penalty May paid JMM is infact smaller than if the Nevada boxing commission fined Mayweather, which is 10 mper cnet of his puse or about 1.5 milliuon.

And because JMM signed that last minute change, then they can not cancel the fight as long as Mayweather is under the welterweight limit.

To put the blame entirely on GBP is probably not getting the real picture. A fight contract is not signed by managers or promoters but by the fighters themselves. How come that JMM signed that last minute change of contract???

Was JMM forced to sign the contract??? Only the people in immediate circle of JMM really knew what transpired in that negotiation. It is easy for anyone tyo say I would never sign even if there is a gun ointed in my head. But how about 300,000 dollars per pound???

Why did beristein not ask for a bigger amount???? Afterall, Mayweather is already getting the lion's share of everything, plus floyd is already enjoying all the advantages in this fight. To come in overweight in the originally sipulated weight of 144 is just the nail in the coffin.

Another thing that bothers me is that can JMM not sign the changed contract? I am sure that even if the fight is cancelled, as long as it is Mayweather's fault, then JMM can still claim lost revenue through arduous court battle.

Now what did GBP get out of it???? That is a 100 million dollars question - the right to promote Mayweather's fights.

The blame is on GBP.....they were the ones promoting JMM.....and supposedly wanting him to win.....

Certainly a trainer and the fighter should not be expecting to know the stipulations and repercussions that come with a fighter not being able to make weight.

I have no doubt that it was Shaefer and GBP who laid out to JMM the avenues he could take......and that would either be walk (of course JMM was not going to walk) ......
........or fight at a disadvantage while getting paid a few more dollars.

.......but there is no question that GBP should have fought for Marquez and make Mayweather either drop the 2 lbs, or pay much more than the 650K that they actually did.

Mayweather made well over 10 milliion here, and he ends up losing about 5 percent of his purse......

......and as you said, Mayweather would have lost more if he was penalized by the commision.........now in hindsight we know GBP was working on behalf of Mayweather......of course, because of the looming possible Mayweather-Pacquiao matchup.

I wish I remembered where I read it, but since I don't I understand if people take it with a grain of salt, but I heard Santiago said that Cotto was 158 on fight night against Pac.

The part you highlighted stated here is no catchweight as well as no rehydration clause in thi fight; meaning the Mayweather fight. In the very next part of that sentence, Fraizer claims there were rehydration clause in other Pacquiao fights. Now what fights he's talking about, what the rehydration clause entailed, or if his his allegation is even accurate is unknown. However, a rehydration clause makes no sense. I highly doubt it's true.

there's only one word to describe it. jmm prostituted himself to GBP and floyd's camp. he have the right to pull out of the fight after floyd weighed over the agreed weight.

You are being to harsh my friend! He was actually hungry for RECOGNITION that is why he fought PBF!

Too bad! Going up two weight classes made him bloated and was hardly a threat to pbf!

Kudos to him for taking the fight DESPITE all ODDS!
