I'll be very surprised to see Kali win this fight due to his inactivity. Chageav will stop him, just like Rahman did, a class above.

Meehan one step away from world title

    19/05/2010

    from fijivillage.com

He has a bin man, bouncer, builder, scaffolder, road worker and gardener.

Now Kali Meehan is trying for a new job title: heavyweight champion of the world.

Meehan is the Fiji born boxer nobody knows about B his WBA title elimination bout against former champion Ruslan Chagaev in Rostock, Germany, on Sunday isn't even being screened in New Zealand, Fiji or Australia.

But then most people have forgotten Kali Meehan.

He hasn't fought for almost two years B his last seven fights cancelled by promoters, opponents or medical authorities.

So he had to take any job he could to feed his family.

He was ready to quit and work in the Western Australia gold mines until his wife and three sons persuaded him to box on.

Now, a month past his 40th birthday, and thanks to the World's best boxing promoter Don King, Meehan has one last chance.

If he dispatches Chagaev, he becomes the mandatory challenger to the dreadlocked Londoner David Haye, the WBA champion.

Meehan is in Ohio at the moment, where he has sparred 72 rounds against five partners (one sent home, one invalidated out) during training.

The Meehan / Chagaev fight will be held on Sunday.

I hear that if Meehan wins he will fight Haye in Macau and Ricky Hatton will be co promoter

I will be watching the fight on Sunday and cheering for Kali but tend to think Chagaev will have a few extra tools in the shed come fight night.
