If today's HW division is so crappy, then why can't the 90s fighters win a belt?

If toda's HW division is 'the weakest era in history' then why can't some of the 90s and early 2000s contenders win a belt today?

I mean the 90s were a 'golden era' (according to the ESB classic nutheads) so even the shot and fat versions of the 90s fighters should have cleaned up over the last 5-10 years. Why haven't they?

    - Holyfield
    - Rahman
    - Briggs
    - Botha
    - Liakovich
    - Brewster
    - Mercer
    - Byrd

Old Foreman did it, Old Holmes did it, old Patterson did it,
Old Weaver did it, old Walcott did it. Why cant the great 90's fighters do it???:yep:deal

great thread. Its is exactly as you say. An old Foreman and an old Larry Holmes were beating real contenders in the 90s or even won a title. Then why cant the guys who were world champs in the 90s win a title from 2000-2010 if "The heavyweight division is so weak right now"

The highest ranked 90's fighter is Michael Grant at #20.
Grant is 39yo, younger than Foreman when George made his come back and Michael never lost a fight in the 90s. The next is Tua at #43!
Tua was KO'ing everything in the 90's, but cant beat bums today.

You wait to become shot and fat and make a try for yourself.

I have better question for you, since the best era in HW boxing was late
60 and 70 then why Ali, Foreman and Frazier did not try to win a belt, they are ATG,
they should have no problem beat a bunch of no hopes as these boring Klits.

Maybe i dont 100 percent agree with this angle of looking at it but i agree with the over all point

this isnt the worst the division has ever been, but it has been one of the most dominated periods in the division

Yes, I am not saying today's HW division is the most talent rich ever. Nor are today's heavyweight contenders the most passionate ever. Nobody in their right mind is claiming that.

I am just getting sick of tired of the rampant "today's HW division is the worst ever and the 90s was so much better" bull**** repeated over and over and over again.
