exactly, Douglas was a big athlete, 6-4, 235 who just wasn't that interested in boxing. He had been "immersed" in boxing from childhood like Chris Byrd, Tyson Fury, FMJ, and others whose father and family were involved in boxing, but he preferred basketball. Douglas was a guy that would be dangerous to fight. You might get the guy who didn't want to be there and you might get the inspired guy who had boxed his whole life and was 6-4, 235. Douglas also looked good vs. Mike Williams on the Tyson-Spinks undercard.

Exactly. He also got robbed against Ferguson, who he almost knocked out in round 1, the young version of him who went 6 with Tyson and 10 with a fresh Carl Williams.

You can take the best Frazier here as well.

The significant difference between Ali and Douglas is power. Frazier didn´t give much about Alis power, besides the amount of punches he took.
In comparison to that Douglas is very well able to back Frazier up, win rounds by doing so and making Frazier pay with single powerful blows for his mistakes.

Imho Douglas looked a little tired before he got knocked down by Tyson, but came back after that. If Frazier won´t take too dangerous blows, he should make a good fight after rounds 12. But I wouldn´t bet on any Frazier win here.

When did Ellis give Joe a boxing lesson? Joe destroyed Jimmy.

I’m picking Tokyo Doughlas to beat Joe. Tokyo Buster had the size, speed, reach, stamina and power to score a tko over Joe, imho.

Douglas beating Tyson, is not a valid reason to pick him over any heavyweight great, apart from Tyson.

I've not checked it out just yet the Scores for either fight Phill ,but I'm sure Ellis won the first couple of round's and Buster was doing fairly fairly well in his fight with Joe .Score cards wise Buster was doing OK I'm sure .

what about a heavyweight great who is out of shape and past prime? Surely its not unrealistic to think a man who caught lightening in a bottle 1 night could upset a heavyweight great under these circumstances. Im not necessarily championing douglas here either but surely its not beyond the realms of possibility.

Tokyo Douglas is the GOAT. Even if its just for the night. Some people say it's enough.

Blasphemy! Anybody who thinks Buster Douglas would beat Joe Frazier should apologize. Joe had enough left to wear him out and stop him in the later rounds.

None of this "tokyo" rubbish please. It was tyson who didnt have longevity, not that Dougie was some forgotten ATG.
