Mmm...Tyson in the 70's would need to watch out for Ali and George Foreman. Ali has almost all the assets to beat Tyson, and Big George, although I personally he think loses to Tyson, would be a very formidable opponent indeed. That one could go either way...Ali I feel could handle Tyson in a tough fight. Aside from those two, to be honest I don't think there is anyone else out there to significantly trouble him, although Tyson being self-destructive could fall victim to an underdog, just as it happened for real.

Frazier probably beats the same guys Tyson did, but in less emphatic fashion. Nonetheless, I still think he beats the likes of Berbick, Biggs, Williams etc. without too much troube.
Some may take exception to this, but the big hitters like Smith and Ruddock could have upset Joe, imo. I'm not entirely sold on Frazier's punch resistance against big, heavy hitters.

Tyson established himself as the best in the late 60's and early 70's. I pick a prime Tyson over the 70's Ali, Ali in FOTC was NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT somehow "smarter" and "stronger" than the 67 version. He weighed the same.

Taking years off of boxing without fighting and then going back to it, you don't just magically know more than the one from 3-4 years back. If anything, your ring IQ is LESS because you simply haven't been fighting! Tyson would of beaten 70's Ali, 60's Ali is perhaps the only fighter ever I might pick over the Tyson of the Biggs/Holmes/Spinks fights.

Tyson's lifestyle, mindset would do him in though and he'd reign as the champ for a couple of years like he did in real life and then lose. Whether against Ali in a rematch, Foreman, even a Ron Lyle. Tyson at his best though beats 70's Ali, blows Foreman away with speed, Norton has no chance. Shavers durability would kill him, I can see Jerry Quarry making a good fight out of it.

Same here. Frazier wouldn't have the impressive early round knockouts like Tyson had, but I can see him being able to break down and stop guys like Tony Tucker unlike Tyson.

I also agree with you on Joe against guys like Bonecrusher, it's a fact that the only two quality punchers Joe faced put him on the canvas, and the only top end one destroyed him. There weren't as many punchers in Tyson's era as boxers though so his chances of being upset are less.

Obviously it goes without saying you are right, and the reason behind this is because Tyson had terrible stamina, and could get discouraged so easily that if he didnt KO you within the first 4 he was basically a sitting duck who was completely finished for the fight.

Some people think he got stopped because he kept getting punched in the head, and that starts to have an effect after a while. What a load of bollocks.
