if tyson died...

    ...in 1989 before the douglas fight...i am tempted to say before bruno...but lets say after bruno and before douglas...

    how would he have gone down in a list of all time great heavyweight champions in your opinions folks ??

    If he'd died, you'd see him get serious talks as the best ever. If he'd retired, he'd have had a similar bump but a young, dominant champion dying (ala Salvador Sanchez) always leaves the question of "what could have been".

    ****, look at how overhyped Ibeabuchi gets for accompishing **** compared to Tyson and having his career ended for being a nutjob. Or how McLellan gets looked at in a more favorable light now because of the tragic ending vs Benn. A fighter going out in any kind of sudden fashion like that almost always enhances their legacy because they usually didn't last long enough to fight every different kind of opponent, and didn't get their consistency at a championship level truly tested. That means any career setbacks that could've or would've happened never do, making the guy look damn near invincible.

    yeah :)...maybe...but then you'd have people debating that he retired so young cause he was avoiding someone like a holyfield coming up...or that he had lost something with a less spectacular by his standards fight with bruno...dead takes that away and stops it becoming part of the puzzle as where to rate him...
    not that i wish old mikey boy was dead really :)

    Harry Simon s a fighter who we didnt see enough of. I understand he got put too prison and rightly so but he could have been an excellent fighter had events been different.

    Perhaps, but if he died a noble death battling against that bullying Silverback gorilla at the zoo, he'd be a hero and kids would be going to Mike Tyson High School.

    He would have far more mystique and not be the laid-bare creature that he has become. He would be one of the most beloved figures in boxing history, and be regarded as unbeatable.

    but if he died before holyfield people would have been like wow he stumbled against buster but was on the comeback trail and died young and would have gotten love from old people lmao
