Would it still be classed a golden age in boxing or would having one dominant champion relegate people's perceptions of Frazier foreman norton etc as mere also rans and not considered to be so great ?

    I dunno.
But if he came along in the 60s, Mike Tyson would be named after him.

Fury won't even be a dominant champion in this era.

Top 5 caliber and potential belt holder if the right match up came along.

Late 70's really wasn't that good....people love the name value, and has time has gone on, many have amalgamated the best names of the entire decade into one lump despite that the best names were only together a small chunk of the time. This distorts things- look how much better the 2000s looks if you take the biggest names of everyone who fought during the entire decade, for example. Saying a decade had Wlad, Lennox, Vitali, Holyfield, Tyson, Byrd, etc makes it look a hell of a lot stronger.

As for the late 70's, you had a faded ATG champ skirting by on star appeal numerous times until he finally lost his title to one of the weakest heavyweight champs in history (and needed favorable judging not to lose it against Norton or Young). That's not a promising sign. A guy like Fury would've at least earned himself a title shot and been comfortably world ranked.

He is Gerry ****ey without the savage power. Fury has been matched with nothing but feather fisted and coddled opposition. He fought Chisora twice for christ sakes!:rofl

Fury is a savage and brutal KO waiting to happen. They have done a miserable job developing him he hasn't been battle tested and that is disaster against a guy like Klitschko. Fury is getting his Glass Jaw shattered.

don't you mean if the klit bros came along then ? then you'd have 2 undefeated HW dominant champs.

fury could win a trinket if the klits relinquished one so they wouldn't have to fight each other

It tickles me when people pull me up when I say foreman was a limited fighter.the man had the most awful wide open style known to man,yet he gets made out to be a great fighter, does it not dawn on people that the fighters he was beating just might not have been that great like they had been made out to be.imagine foreman in there with someone as strong as him,5 inches taller with skills and a switch hitter, fury would be the greatest of all time

If Foreman connects on Tyson fury what do you think will happen?
    Say the truth.:think

By the way Foreman fought all the way to the 1990s, so its not like he's that separated from this generations heavyweights.

In fact many believe he beat a young Shannon briggs who is no small heavyweight and is still relevant in today's heavyweight seen back in 97.
