I don't need to convince you about Ali's record. His record speaks for itself. As for Cooper. Cooper was a very good good fighter but bled a lot which led to him being counted out several times. I dare you to find any heavyweight with a combination of hall of famers as Ali. So far in his career Fury has been carefully matched against short and soft punching heavyweights. I hope you still be here after Wladimir scatters his glass chin all of the ring. In fact I believe Fury will give Wladimir his finest highlight reel.
No rose tinted specs needed. Watch for yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa_KkVNifTM
But I already explained to you that Ali's opponents are only hall of famers because they fought Ali, and Ali was only a hall of famer because of the way he talked fights up. Fighters from the past are not the be all and end all. You will never accept this, it is like a child being told Santa Claus doesn't exist. I'm not wasting any more time with you, goodnight.
Mrs. Fury, I know you are proud of your son, but Foreman defeated Joe Frazier, Ken Norton and even as a 45 year old man, Michael Moorer. The place of these men in history is not in question and neither is the place of George Forman, who beat them like children. Foremen didn't have to be particular fast, accurate, or skilled, because he hit so hard, that he did damage wherever he hit. He just wore guys down until he landed the punch that got them out of there. Also, his jab was very underrated, as it carried the weight and power of an ordinary heavy's right hand. I like your boy, but he does not have the chin to stand up to Foreman's bombs, and outboxing diminutive, shot and feather fisted Derrick Chisora is not the same as outboxing an ATG beast like big George. Also, your son Luke Tyson Fury could learn a thing or two about humility from Foreman's second run. But it is great to have the mother of a current heavyweight contender on here. I wish your boy luck.
This is so true.the Ali pre draft was light years better than the 70's version.fighters like norton Frazier and foreman were built up to be super human when all in all they were good fighters but nothing suggests they would stand out in any other era. Foreman sure had a good chin and a killer punch but put him in with evasive skills who could tire him out he was easily beatable, why do you think he wanted zero to do with Holmes ? His aura came from anihilating Frazier who was Taylor made for him and norton, who's only achievement was his win and losses to Ali and a close loss to a young Holmes.fraziers buggy was beating Ali 2fights after a near 4 year lay off. Don't be fooled by the smokescreens. Don't you ever notice every fighter Ali faced is like "the great Gerry quarry" or "the deadly" earnie shavers etc when in realit they weren't that good
In all honesty I think it was a master stroke.ali said he did the shuffle as it confused his opponent momentarily and put them off what ever they were thinking at the time.imagine how confused u Would be if you as thinking of nailing him with the uppercut then he beats you to it,pure genius
You don't want to waste your time because you're a fanboy and ignorant to facts. Many of Ali's opponents had their reputation well established before they fought him. Joe Frazier- Olympic gold medalist. Only two men had gone the distance with him before Ali. His left hook ranked as one of the best in the history of the sports. Considered one of the greatest punchers in history. Was knocking everybody out as heavyweight champion. Only defeated by Ali and Foreman. George Foreman- Olympic gold medalist. Considered by many as the hardest punching in heavyweight heavyweight in history (check his knockout ratio). Was the favorite by 3.1 in the rumble in the jungle. He Was such a bad man that he came back 10 later and was beating up the so called "modern big and improved heavyweights". Oh did I forget he was an Ali leftover. Sonny Liston. His reputation was well established before Ali fought him. Before Foreman and Tyson, was considered the most feared fighter in boxing, and feared for a reason. Ali was the underdog and thought Liston was gonna kill Ali. I can go on and on but you get the idea. Dude you're not an expert so stop acting like you're smarter than you actually are. There is a reason why modern fighters from strawweight to heavyweight rank him top 10 of all time and consider him their favorite fighter. Ernie Terrell who is almost as tall as Furry and schooled by Ali would have beat the **** out Tyson.
I still can't believe Wepner was a world rated fighter for three years plum in the middle of "The Golden Age", where today's top contenders would be mere clubfighters. That footage just reinforces my confusion. I guess I just had to be there.
He wasn't rated. ALi had just beaten Foreman a couple months earlier and Don King wanted to keep Ali busy, so he gave him Wepner.
He was a highly skilled beast of a fighter wepner it's just his hair was so bad it made him look worse that what he was
Check Foreman's record during his comeback when he was knocking out modern fighters. Ask Holyfield who hit him the highest.
Ring had Wepner top 10 in their year end ratings from 73-75. In fact, they kept him in the same year the Ali fight (March 1975) happened despite no worthwhile win between that loss and the year end ratings.
Go on then you tell me other than moorer what his defining fights where in his comeback ? The thing is foreman was more dangerous when he did comeback because he was gonna be there for 12 rounds, whereas before he would be burnt out,one thing he learned was to conserve his energy
