If Tyson had fought in the 60s and 70s, would he have ever won a world title?

No way!!! Earnie might manage to rock Iron Mike, but he'd get stopped in the early rounds.

That was a kind of old post, @Sangria

To be honest, I'm a little freeked out I even intimated Earnie could beat Mike. I must have been smoking good stuff.

The stylistic matchup heavily favors Tyson against Ali. Tyson has all the traits of the boxers that Ali struggled with.
As for Foreman, he is too slow and many of his punches are telegraphed.

I dont argee buddy to that stylistic thing i hate that quote it's used to much boxing is not just off of that it depends on other versions of a fighter a person can have a certain skill or weigh more or less which would make them fight different depending on the style they fight at

a stylistic disadvantage means to me the way a person fights usually means they should win I have seen lots of matches a person fighting different against the so called person with the advantage and win

like I said before the 60s ali is a problem for mike but the 70s is not cause he felloff didnt move as good and was easier to hit

George young ver loses to mutiple people great at outboxing or just good like Jim ruddock young ver
bowe who was real good at inside fighting but cause do long range to
    and others

but had we put the old George skills and toughness on his young body he is a toughmatch for the same boxers

like I always say George is way to slow sloopy and easy to read for mike only a crazy person or a person who never seen mike at his best says that mike never got beat by those types why would George it doesn't add up at all

just opinions like yours, but you seem like a Tyson apologist. I just see it like I saw it. He talked a good talk and said what to watch out for, and then Mike fell for everything he said Cus warned him about, and he fell for it more than most fighters do.. Don King, letting Robin take over and influence him. Everything. he was distracted and even got rid of Kevin Rooney who was good for him. And his career suffered for it. Had he stayed focused maybe he could have had 20 title defenses. He has himself to blame. He is remembered as a dominant fighter who never really won in a great matchup against prime guys like Evander and Lennox. I like him and always admired him, but the truth is the truth.. He could have done better in certain fights where he couldn't take what he could dish out.

Fighters of the caliber of Tyson have a way of getting through somewhere.

Yeah, people don't really point this out often, but Tyson is a fast, crouching, aggressive fighter with a great left hook, who feasted on the remnants of the early 80s Ali clones. That doesn't sound like Ali's preferred matchup.
