Who would have been the dominant heavyweight if Tyson had simply never existed? Would one of the pack of the 80's "lost generation" heavyweights have stepped up and unified (Tony Tucker for example), would Michael Spinks have kept the title and become an ATG heavy or would Larry Holmes have come back won a rematch with Spinks and been champ again until Evander Holyfield moved up?
Berbick and Tucker fight to establish a new number 1. And the wba just floats around playing pass the parcel. Spinks remains irrelevant to the big picture. Holyfield eventually unifies.
WBC wise, Thomas probably beats Berbick in a rematch... Spinks defends the lineal title against Tangstad standard opponents... Smith loses a 3rd fight to 'spoon... Tucker beats Douglas for the IBF... After that, anything could happen until the next great HW comes along, and that would be Holyfield, then we get back on track with what actually happened...until about '96, because Tyson Holy-doesn't happen...Holy probably fights Bruno for the WBC, then loses to Lewis... What happens with Bowe...this is getting too complicated now...even I'm getting bored with my rambling... One thing, would big George still have made his comeback if Tyson wasn't around...probably...
