uhh too bad you did no such thing. I clearly don't think he's the best heavyweight of all time, and I said no such thing.
Your credibility regarding Jimmy young vanished when you said he got sparked by cooney . and yeah. he was shot by the 80s. An idiot like you wouldn't know a prime young from a washed up one.

I call em when i see them. Tyson wasnt prime mentally or phsyically, but other great fighters were able to come back, despite being past their prime and still be very effective. I guess mike is the exception.

In a three fight series with a Kevin Rooney era Tyson, and Tokyo Douglas I think Douglas wins one by decision.

And Tyson wins the other two, one by TKO and one by SD.

Styles make fights. I'm a huge Tyson fan but I think Douglas (that night) would have given him trouble at any time; which isn't to say he'd beat him ,but it would be no cakewalk for Tyson. Douglas had a lot of physical advantages, combined with handspeed, and absolutely no fear in the ring that night. That would of always posed some problems. Tony Tubbs had a similar style to Douglas and Tyson approached him in basically the same way. The difference was Douglas wasn't giving Tyson any ground and putting leather on him anytime he got up close.

btw you asked if Douglas was better than Thomas, Spinks, and Tucker but were those guy better then the Douglas who fought in Tokyo?

If Tyson wasn't in shape for the Douglas fight, he would have at least had some success early in the fight.

I've always said that a focused Zab Judah is greater than Ray Robinson! ...Oh, wait. No, I guess I've never said that.

I think it was a matter of mental state not training. He trained no doubt about it. but was he dedicated? think not. nobody gave his opponent a prayer and what is the most important he had been a champion for quite some time. he started to loose interest (for example the Bruno post fight press conference) , something no real champion should do, yet many fail this test. and Tyson failed. I bet Ali many times came so under trained yet pulled it off. Tyson can never be a top 5 ATG, because he just never went against all odds and won. the closest he came to coming back was the 8 round vs Douglas and most of all Razor Ruddock II. Tyson prime was 1986/7-1991, he lost during his prime but hey some ATGs lost as well.
having said that ... he rips Douglas in a rematch. Douglas knew it so he ducked Tyson for the rest of his life.

A focussed prime Mike Tyson, with Kevin Rooney and the ghost of Cus in his corner, pre-Robin Givens, pre-Don King, suffering from the clap that he must have caught of a prostitute (as per the Berbick fight), with Bill Cayton and Jim Jacobs as managers, and Steve Lott sucking him off just short of climax, and pigeon stories being told daily, with a real quiet speaking voice and lisp, and sexual assault victims being bought off and hushed up, iron-clad Iron Mike, Kid ****in' Dynamite, "the chiller", no socks, no robe, no weakness, the invincible, the incredible, the fighter who brought the AWE back in awesome, uppercut your nose into your brain, the teenage terror, ultimate fighting machine ...... now, THAT Tyson, he'd beat any man in history, he'd beat them all.

The Tokyo version of Buster Douglas would've been a handful for Mike Tyson,no matter what condition Mike would have turned up in. Lack of physical conditioning would cause a fighter to fade as the fight progresses, but Mike was being outboxed from the off during their fight. Even taking into account timing issues,it is hard to imagine a prime Tyson deteriorating THAT much since his one round stoppage of Carl Williams, less than a year previously. Let's go back a bit,and look at the first two fights of the Muhammad Ali-Ken Norton trilogy. Muhammad had done virtually zilch training for fight number one. And while Ken deserved the verdict that he got,the victory was nowhere near as comprehensive as Douglas' over Tyson. Indeed in the rematch later that year,Muhammad was in his best condition and form since 1967,and while this time,in my opinion,he'd earned the judges verdict,it was still very tight. So,while it's possible that after a tough fight,an in shape Tyson has the energy to follow up his knockdown of Buster, and finish the job,it's equally on the cards that Douglas still manges to outbox Mike, and stop him late,or win a decision. The latter seems more likely.

Tyson was in shape for the Douglas fight.

If he wasn't he'd have been banged out inside six rounds, because Buster was giving him a working over.

It's just an excuse for his fanboys, like all the others.

It wasnt just the Douglas training camp, it was a culmination of lack of focus and disinterest that started after the Spinks fight. It wasnt one training camp, or one fight, and the fact that Tyson was able to get past Bruno and Williams just reiniforced his belief he didnt need to be 100% prepared or in condition.
When he met Douglas he went up against a well conditioned inspired fighter with solid skills, so he had nothing to fall back on except trying to win the fight by knockout. Tyson could have been better prepared for Douglas, theres no denying that.
