If you guys are fans of Joe Calzaghe and enjoyed watching him fight, why not leave the personal remarks out of it and just answer the question? Which guy from that list would you have liked to see Joe fight? Got an opinion on this or not?

Lefthook7 is still butt hurt that Calzaghe beat Hopkins. But the great thing was that Calzaghe beat Hopkins at a new weight, in America, with Cortez as ref, with 3 American judges, outlanded Hopkins and made Hopkins try and ***** out, scoring the highest score against Hopkins ever :smoke. If you look at A Byrds name on Google, just see what comes up. It doesnt do the Hopkins fans any favours.
All of this sandwiched between Hopkins best wins of Tarver, Wright and Pavlik .

Its lucky that Hopkins had the sense to avoid Calzaghe years earlier as we wouldnt have had the privilege of seeing Hopkins good career if he had of fought the non bloated, younger, harder punching Calzaghe.

For fools like Lefthook7, they fail to notice that Hopkins doesnt have any wins as good as undefeated Kessler or Eubank on his resume and Calzaghe has those and a win over Hopkins :hi:

There have been countless fighters that I don't rate particularly highly that I've enjoyed watching. Those fighters can still be involved in intriguing style match-ups and produce very interesting/engaging/telling fights. I don't care much for David Haye, but I am pretty fascinated to see how his fight with Wladimir Klitschko is going to unfold. By the same token, I'd love to have seen Joe Calzaghe fight Glen Johnson at 175lbs around 2004. I think it would've been a war.

I vote for other, as I would prefer to see a 2006 rematch with Mario Veit following his decisive victory over hot prospect Andrejevs. I simply felt that there was a lot of unfinished business between Joe and him, and Veit's elite European talent far surpasses most of the names on the list.

I would have been pleased had the bum lover fought just one (1) quality opponent. Instead, what we got was Woodard, Kessler, and other Euro-hypes unworthy of attention.
    In his early career, I wish he weren't so afraid to lose and stood up and faced;

    1. Nunn
    2. Jones
    3. Hopkins
    4. Toney

He would have lost to any one of these fighters in their primes.

A fight with Toney could never realistically have happened, hence why Toney isn't listed.

By the time Calzaghe won a world title in '97, Toney had already blown up to cruiserweight, and no way was the unknown Welsh WBO supermiddleweight champion going to tempt him into burning the weight back off again.

Nunn - was losing to Rocchigiani who Eubank took the 0 of, who had just lost to Calzaghe.

Jones - who said he made SMW better than LHW but wouldnt face Calzaghe at SMW, and ducked Calzaghe

Hopkins - :patsch Hopkins backed out of facing Calzaghe and was a ducker like Jones.

Toney - You complete twat. Toney was a CW before Calzaghe had even won a SMW world title :patsch

    Calzaghe vs Ottke
    Calzaghe vs Dawson
    Calzaghe vs Bute

Judging by the way the options are split up.

No excuses. Sytles make fights and fights pay dollars. Boxing would have paid to finally see Calzaghe step up and fight a live body. Even Toney was, or should have been within reach.

You Calzaghe fans carry around a ton of excuses in Gucci pocketbooks. :patsch

You truly are ******ed if you think bout between Toney and Calzaghe could ever come off. Roy Jones had better things to do as well. boxing unfortunately has politics, all though i agree that Calzaghe is partly to blame i do think other fighters / promoters could have made more of an effort to bring us some bouts. We all know about Hopkins rejecting a fight with Joe a decade ago.
