You were one of the idiots that thought Lacy would beat Calzaghe with ease weren't you?

    Prime RJJ

I think he beats everyone on the "At any time 2003-present, at 168 or 175" list.

The fights I'd have liked to see in order

    1. Sven Ottke in 1997-2002 because unlike other fighters, he wouldn't have let Sven Ottke get away with a dodgy decision

    2. Bernard Hopkins in 2002 - ironically, I think Calzaghe easily beats the more aggressive Hopkins of this era compared to the Hopkins of the later era who was a bit more cagey and defense orientated

    3. Roy Jones Jr in 2003 (prior to move to HW) - post prime Roy but still a Roy that was ontop of the world. I think Roy from 1994-2001 beats ANYONE at any weight between 160 and 190 but 2003 Roy vs Calzaghe would have been a close fight

    4. Kelly Pavlik prior to the Hopkins fight

    5. Chad Dawson instead of RJJ

    6. Lucian Bute post retirement

    Ironically, had he done that.

"Oh Sven Ottke was an over-rated euro bum who got gift decisions"
"Oh Hopkins was past his best and fighting at a higher weight class, he was too old"
"Oh RJJ had never fought a true elite fighter and was just beating bums of the month"
"Kelly Pavlik is just another hyped Jeff Lacy"
"Chad Dawson is green and easy beat"
    "Lucian Bute isn't even good"

Prime Jones... just so I could see a prime Roy struggle for once & actually be in a real tough fight.

I give Calzaghe a very good chance vs Roy, he wont be the favourite tho.

The man retired right when he had so much to prove .

Joe Calzaghe was also was past his prime when he fought BHop and RJJ
It wasnt just RJJ and Bhop that were past their best and what they would have done to him in their prime etc.
But surely no one knows how a faster harder hitting calzaghe when he was prime would have fared against RJJ and Bhop
His hands were shot to pieces years ago and he was never the same hard hitting SMW that he once was
I would love to have seen him fight a lot more americans, just as much as i would have liked to have seen these american fighters go to the UK
and test themselves against benn, eubank, collins, watson etc
There is equal criticism on both sides of the pond of why fights didnt and still dont happen, boxing politics has got in the way of so many great fights
I wish someone had come up with the idea years ago of a super 6 style tournament in all weight classes and we got to see the fights promoters denied us for years.
Without the super 6 how many of the currect crop of SMW would have faced each other?
Not many is my guess, they would have been busy picking opponents to build up the records and then maybe if we were lucky we might just get a fight if the money was huge (Pac v Mayweather anyone?)
The 1 fight of the list given i would want to see both in their prime
    Calzaghe v Jones

Why are you naming guys at 175 lbs. The time line as to when he could've fought these guys is something you made up lmao.
