If Usyk beats Dubois, Hrgovic and Zhang, is he a HW ATG?

None of those fighters elevate Usyk to heavyweight ATG status,there are four current top guys in the Division with Usyk being one of them and he’s already defeated one of the others in Joshua,the other two standouts are Wilder and Fury. Should Usyk beat those two fighters then without doubt he is the best of his era and certainly in ATG status . Usyks career at Cruiserweight is already ATG stuff but up at Heavyweight he does not currently have the depth required,however if he was to beat the best of his era then it would be very hard to deny him ATG status even with his limited amount of heavyweight fights .

 

Dubois obviously does nothing for him, unless Dubois then went on to dominate the next half decade (not likely)

Hrgovic, however, is a top 10 heavyweight.

Zhang pre-supposes that he beats Joyce a second time, which likely puts him into a current top 3 with two wins over Joyce and a "win" over Hrgovic.

He's not a top 15 ATG HW with that. But then again neither is Fury currently.

But if both their careers end in 2024 with Usyk on a Zhang win and Fury after fighting Ngannou & Thor , I would have to place him above Fury.

Hard to say, leaning towards no, unless Hrgovic and Zhang get some better wins to make beating them more impressive. Just goes to show what a shitshow the HW division is.

 

An ATG, yes. GOAT is a bridge too far.
Most people are also heavily biased to older eras anyway, although h2h Usyk could defeat just about anyone in say, 1970s era. Even the "Greatest" of that era.

 

Who knows what Dubois, Hrgovic and Zhang will achieve in the sport. Things can change fast in boxing. It wasn't that long ago David Price was miles ahead of Fury and Wilder.

 

Dubois wouldn't be among Waldo's top 30 opponents. He's only got this fight because of total corruption and nothing else.

 

He needs Fury and Wilder to complete the Holy Trinity in the division and seal the deal. Wins against Hrgovic, Joyce and Zhang would certainly improve his standing no end though.

Unfortunately both fighters will probably duck him. Hopefully the Wilder Joshua fight comes off and Joshua brutally ends Wilder making him moot in this discussion.

 

He is nowhere near being an ATG heavyweight. Beating those three guys who have achieved very little will not improve his status a whole lot although it will add to the depth of his resume.

 

Lewis beat at least 10 top heavyweights though whereas Usyk realistically is unlikely to get beyond 4. That's a pretty massive gap.

Heavy, not really. I am no longer letting guys off the hook for failing to fight the other best man in the division. Until he fights Fury, neither of them are ATG's.

 

Sure, I agree, but I am not really expecting the kind of performance that will catapult Dubois into the top 10. And a draw or a loss to Dubois is not going to benefit Usyk, plus it doesn't fit in with your premise.
