If Usyk Beats Fury.....

no one said they couldn't

 

*When* Usyk beats Fury.

 

Fury is the Foreman to Usyk's Ali here. Fury senses it and wants a way out imo.

 

There have been some guys that have made that claim.

 

It won't, nor should it.

Usyk isn't the same size as Rocky Marciano. He's actually closer in size to a guy like Lennox Lewis than he is Sonny Liston. He isn't small by any means, and he's bigger than pretty much every great heavyweight before the 70s.

Great heavyweights of the past should be held to their own merits; and the truly great ones have more than Fury and Usyk combined. Just because they're older, doesn't mean they're worse. Modern society as a whole has a tendency to confuse the words new and improved. Joe Frazier would be the best fighter in the world today, but he'd be at cruiserweight. His style is almost designed to beat Usyk and Fury, but would be able to? I don't know, he's really ****in small compared to them. Both of them. Usyk beating Fury doesn't prove that a smaller guy can beat a bigger guy any more than the dozens of examples we've already seen, it shows a 6'3 225lbs guy can beat a 6'9 270lbs guy.

Every match-up should be taken on a case by case basis. When Usyk beats Fury, all it will prove is a fighter like Usyk, can beat a fighter like Fury.

 

The first thing is that Usyk is big by old standards.
And it's not just the size, watch the footage of these characters and see how sloppy they are.
Usyk is far more skilled and polished as an athlete.
So it doesn't prove these crusty old prizefighters would beat Fury.

 

No. A heavyweight that’s Usyk’s size back then like say Ken Norton or Ron Lyle would get their brains boxed out. Even Prime Foreman who believe it or not was around Usyk’s size, wouldn’t be able to box and move like Usyk does.

Ali at his best would cause some problems but imo eventually gets wore down by the jab, strength and size. Ali wasn’t as tricky as Usyk and danced around early and even into the mid rounds against smaller Heavyweights but then did a lot of clinching and rope leaning. Wouldn’t work against Fury.

I really think that straight left will be there for Usyk quite a bit

 

Maybe it would prove Ali and Holmes could hang with today's giants but not the flat footed Foreman, Norton, Frazier.

 

Ali was a bit of an anomaly, a man that size should not be able move and dance like that, at the same time posses a very powerful delivery technique. Usyk is close to that, ring IQ high, mobility high, delivery system high. If I'm a heavier, much slower fighter, I'm thinking this could be a problem, punch accumulation and chasing a moving target is my worst nightmare. I don't think Usyk is up there with Ali but I do see some comparisons. Ali took down some big animals.

 

Well Usyk is a bit of a one off because how many highly skilled Southpaw Heavyweights, with his movement and skills have there been at Heavyweight ? The only real Heavyweight Southpaws I can think of are Moorer, Byrd. And Usyk is not that small being 6'3 220+ pounds.

But again Ruiz who is a short fat man beat the hell out of 6'5 well built Joshua, so I think that fight already answered that question.
