He is already an ATG fighter with his accomplishments to date, spanning two divisions.
Hell no. They haven't proven themselves better than Yoka, Hrgovic, etc
If Foreman knocked out Ali he would have been the best of his era with only 2 good wins. 3 if you want to overrate Ken Norton.
Best example of how shotty this HW era is. Three guys.....
Meh.... 'woulda couldas' mean little to me. TOO many other factors to toss in to those.
Fury hasn't come close to cleaning out his era though so his ranking in his own era is unknown. Ali fought the best of his era while Fury hasn't
That isn't the point. I chose that example because it would have been hard to argue against. Saying that only 3 good wins means you can't be the best of your era is kind of ridiculous. If we were talking about boxing as a whole then sure but when it comes down to a single division like we are talking about then it can be done with 3 wins. Nobody is asking if 3 wins makes you the best boxer of this generation, just the best HW.
People **** over Mike Tyson, but in his short reign he had some decent wins
Guys like Tucker, Tubbs, Smith, Thomas, old Holmes, Bruno and Spinks are more talented than many of the lumps around now.
The guys now have bigger breasts and larger waists though, I will give them that
Maybe I'm being cynical, but I think the Heavyweight landscape is very poor. Usyk is obviously a very good fighter and Fury is a big guy with some boxing ability and speed. I just don't think Wilder and Aj are anything special. One guy literally can't box
I never said having three wins means you can't be the best of an era. I just said if three is all it takes, it's must be weak.
Well said about Mike. The HW division today is just a wasteland of waiting around. Fury and Usyk are great talents though. It'll be a shame if they're wasted with the same 2-3 guys to fight over....
Looking back at past eras its pretty easy to pick 3 wins that would make a fighter the best of an era. So rather than weak it seems very normal for any era to be the case.
That might be the case in an era where guys actually fought each other. Wilder has avoided the top guys aside from Fury which makes it hard to know how good he is
