If he can mimic Jameel McCline's tactics, can he knock Peter down? Or did Peter not train for Jameel and it will be hard for Vitali to land uppercuts on a shorter opponent?
Vitali never had a good uppercut, he was actually testing it out against Danny Williams. It's the straight punches that you will see from Vitali in this fight with some strong hooks when they get close.
Peter's big flaw is reacting to punches he can't see. If you notice, every time he has been hurt has been from an uppercut or hook. If Vitali has the right gameplan, it will include a number of those.
Maybe, if he lands clean anythings possible, but I doubt Vitali will be trying to fight Peter on the outside where he's most dangerous, instead he will be keep ing the fight in the middle of the ring where he can land his jabs and big straight rights.
I agree Vitali doesn't (didn't) have a strong uppercut, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been working on it for this fight. If I were him I would be all over practicing that punch.
don't know about the uppercut but that slapping hook will put Peter down. It won't matter we will just hear about busted ear drums or something else.
Not so. Vitlai has an uppercut. He used it vs Lewis, and before that vs a few guys on the way up. The thing is, very few fighters have the size, footspeed, and will to mix it up close with Vitlai, which is why you don't see him uppercut much.
As far as I remember and I'm a huge Vitali fan who has followed him for too long he never really had a serious uppercut nor did he use it enough even when fighters got close enough to him. His main weapon was the straight right hand and vicious hooks(usually on the ear) when his opponent gets close. Those two punches and the power he throws them with is what dropped his opponents hard. Even when he threw and landed an uppercut against Williams everyone commented on how he's practicing a new punch and that was an uppercut followed by a right hand that finished the fight.
