If Ward beats Kovalev, is his resume better than Pacquiao?

He's going up in weight to fight a prime undefeated beast. Ward beating Kovalev is much more impressive than Pacquiao beating an extremely overrated Barrera. Pacquiao probably has more solid wins, but I think Froch, Kessler, Kovalev tops Pacquaio's top 3 wins.

hmmm that's a tough call :think

put it this way, if Ward beats Kov his ATG status will skyrocket, I don't rate Pac as high as some on here so for me I would say yes even though I think the majority would disagree.

I love Pac, but his resume gets extremely overrated. As far as quantity, Pac has a better resume than Ward by far, since Pac has had almost 2x more fights and is retired. But as far as quality wins, Kessler, Froch, and Kovalev is better than Barrera/Cotto/Shot Morales.

Leoh we get it, you're the biggest pac fanboy. You hate ward, floyd, etc, instead of writing "lol", you want to make your point? Quantity wise Pac has a far better resume, quality wise tell me 3 wins better than Kovalev/Froch/Kessler. And no a shot to pieces Morales coming off losing to Rahim doesn't count .

I'll consider Wards resume better than Pacs when he moves up and beats Povektin into submission.

We're talking about quality of wins. Is Pac going up in weight going to be more impressive than anything Ward will do in his career. Of course. But level of opposition wise, Kovalev, Froch, Kessler is as high as it gets.

So they're on the same level as Mayweather? What sense does that make. Completely ignoring that, a top 5 welterweight is a top 5 opponent when fighting another welterweight. But if a Lightweight is fighting that top 5 welterweight then he's more than a top 5 level of opposition. Just like how if that top 5 welterweight moved up to LMW or MW he'd drop to below top 5 quality.

How does this compare to Ward/Kovalev? It doesn't. I'm not 100% sure but going by fight night weights Kovalev has 5-8 lbs on Ward. That's a weight difference a top level boxer should be able to overcome, especially after 3 tuneups in that weightclass.

What do you mean same level as Mayweather? We're talking about wins . Pac got schooled against Mayweather.

I get what your point is, but just purely quality wise Kovalev is far better than Pac beating a hatton that got knocked out already, post marg-cotto, etc. Pac never fought someone at Kovalev's level besides Mayweather at 140+. You can argue Marquez, but he lost all of his fights besides the 1st one against him, and Marquez is his size.

What do you mean no . Tell me 3 wins that rival that. Pac has never beat Marquez, the first was a draw, he lost the other 3. Barrera is his best win, but Barrera is overrated. Morales he shouldnt get that much credit for he was shot. Cotto was a very good win, but better than Kovalev? I dont think so.

I told you about the majority :p

here is the thing, it depends on how impressive a victory it would be over Kov, if its a epic battle that Ward wins (which your thread does say, "IF") then it would represent potentially the best victory on either resumes.

but these threads are tricky because say Ward wins but wins a ****py fight?
