If Ward beats kovalev where does he place in the atg list of the last 30 years?

If we are talking last 30 years, that would mean who has had their prime accomplishments post 1986.

Off the top of the head Ward would be behind: Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Klitschko, RJJ, Hopkins, Calzaghe, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Trinidad, Whitaker, Morales, Marquez, Barrera, Lopez, Toney.

I'm sure I'm missing a few. But the real question is; what do we say when he loses? Does he drop significantly?

If Ward beats Kovalev convincingly I'd still rank him behind Pacquiao and Jones in the last 30 years.

He would have an argument though for being greater than everybody else though.

Mostly chronological order 80s group, 90s group, 00s group, and 10s group with Lewis thrown in late.

The same place a win over Adonis Stevenson would put him.

I disagree kovalev would smoke Stevenson, Stevenson is getting on in age and since fonfara has onlyonly taken on bums he's to old for sergey at this point. Think ward has the better chance

I would disagree just because Ward doesn't even have 30 fights. Granted due to promotional disputes, but like I said earlier we have to evaluate fighters when they lose. Could you imagine the drop/hate Calzaghe or Mayweather would receive if they had 1 loss?

Someone like Klitschko was a dominant champ for 10 years and beat the other guys who were considered at the top in Haye and Povetkin. But right now since he lost to Fury it gets taken away and we need time to let every sink in. Best when a guy is retired.

If he beats Kovalev I will rate him as #46 top ATG in the last 30 years

This poster genuinely thinks that most likely, he said in another thread he doesn't think Khan has a Glass Jaw.

well, if you mean all time and not the last 30 years i have to move him from #46 all the way down to #218, and that's if he beats Kovalev, cause right now i have him #412

A dozen or so, off the top of my head...

    In no particular order...

    Tarver over RJJ
    BHop over Tarver
    BHop over Pavlik
    Douglas over Tyson
    RJJ over Toney
    Pac over Barerra (1)
    Pac over Cotto
    Floyd over Corales
    Floyd over Canelo
    Duran over Barkley
    SRL over Hagler
    Mosley over Oscar

I would put all of these ahead of Kov over Ward.

    Ward over Kov ?

A bigger win, IMO, and somewhere in that mix above.
