If there was a rematch clause in the contract for the first fight than Ward is legally obligated to fight a rematch with Kovalev. If he does not agree to fight a rematch with Kovalev then he will be in breach of that contract and Kovalev will be entirely within his rights to seek financial compensation.

He cant "do as he pleases" because he is contractually obligated to fight Kovalev again if Kovalev exersizes that rematch clause - and Kovalev has done so - and if doesn't fight that rematch then he'll have to pay Kovalev compensation. His hands are tied.

my family is extremely loving and we've never been on a 4 month holiday. Don't start taking shots at people's families just because they don't agree with you

Actually your post is BS. :nonono

There were numerous threads at the time of the decision with links to a blow-by-blow fight analysis on youtube that tediously showed in slow motion that Kovalev landed a far greater number of punches than even Compubox gave him credit for. :headbash Kovalev won by a landslide if you go by that.

    In fact, here ya go:

Final count SK 222, AW 167 landed.

Ward needs to rematch Kovalev or GTFO of boxing.

I have no problem with Kovalev running him out of the sport.

Would be nice to get a 2nd match between ward and kovalev and get a clear winner so we can truly find out who is the best out of the two.

I look at those numbers and think, sure, Kovalev won the 1st, 2nd, and 10th. The rest... the numbers don't mean much and they're just two guys pressing a button live when it's often unclear if a punch landed or not. Need more than that to get an idea of what happened in a round.

In a word, the guy that I responded to said that nobody could show how Kovalev won, and I refuted him. Sure, punch stats don't mean everything and the harder punches should count more than pitty pats. Problem is, Kovalev IS the harder puncher.

He's an absolute reject. Just a fat, gross, uneducated, fecal stained cretin that has a track record of something I don't even have to mention. Look at his post history. Lol! But unlike him I won't tattle tell and cry about it. I just give him a heavier dose of his own medicine.

If you sign a rematch contract you cant not honour either fight or pay up...Hope thats clear as you seem to have problems on what is clear ie: Ward clearly won ROFL please

Theres also that guy Dwyer, a Ward fan, who told everyone to bet on Ward, and he did a rd by rd after the fight and had Kovalev up by 4 pts I think.

CST added a link to that video a while ago.

And there are numerous others. An incredible amount of people said KOVALEV won, not Andre, even a lot of people one wouldn't have expected to be objective, people who like Andre a lot, but just couldn't BS I guess

    Rematch will happen in June.
But lets just say that Ward doesnt do it then he has only two options

    1. Pay Kovalev a hefty sum to step aside

    2. Retire ( vacate)

So much for being in the driver's seat.

You're also not a boxer, so your point is MOOT.

You try fighting prize fights on a weekly basis!!

And Ward's family is much more loving than yours!!!

Truth is the guy that knows he is going to win is in the driver's seat.

If Ward knew for sure that he would win then he would have taken the rematch in a heartbeat and made himself another stack of money. But, he knows that he's going to get beat down. So now he's weighing a beatdown and the loss of his 0 vs retiring.

are we talking about the same Andre Ward? 1). if my point is moot then so is yours by your own logic 2.) no one fights every week 3). the man has had 6 fights in 5 years i'm sure he's fine and 4). That last comment is just as stupid as everything else you say on this forum, you neither know mine nor Wards family, so shut up you moron

    1. Many boxers take >4 months off, so once again, your POINT IS MOOT.

    2. He claimed that his body is breaking down and needs rest, he also needs to spend great time with his family. So once again, you're wrong here too.

    3. His family is much more loving than yours, and that's irrefutable! You're wrong here too!!! I have a hard time trusting how loving your family is when you're this negative a person!! Didn't raise you right I assume!!
