erm...last time i checked alaska was on the continent of north america and any islands east would be going towards europe not asia....i know americans are thick as **** with geography but surely you know the difference between east and west
thank you for proving my point! Right over your head... Fact is, Alaska has the furthest WESTERN AND EASTERN points of North america. They're called the Alutian Islands Guv'na! :rofl Try being more RIGHT then just smug...
I tell you we have gotten off Track.. We have gone from Pre Made excuses of how and why Froch Loses the fight to Geography.. Ugggh.. I can wait for the fight to get here so Froch Fans and Bias Euro Bums can shake the spot... :dead
No you have to pay attention to what you're saying, not assume and think you know about the subject. I know what I said and it's right. As I said throughout my post, Froch cannot use it as an excuse as it's part of being a pro boxer. I have no bias or angle here, just saying how it is. You argue a single (and simple) aspect of home advantage. It's much more complex than you say and not just based on the Crowd (i disagree with you though and Ward will have more fans turn out than Froch - I'm going though). The actual reasons home advantage exists is still argued over and it is in no means clear as to what aspects are most important. However, what is proven is home COUNTY advantage exists. When a sporting event is held in the COUNTRY they live in (not home town) they are at an advantage. You think when the Olympics was held in the USA or the Soccer World cup was in the USA that the people competing weren't competing miles away from their home town i.e. like Ward will be? They still outperformed expectation when these events were held in their home County and it's not just the crowd. The "bigger than Europe" thing doesn't matter. If an Englishman travelled 60miles to compete in France it would put him at a disadvantage to if he travelled 400miles to Scotland (still Britain).
it's an advantage, but marginal in this case due to Ward having no name recognition in US and the fact that more Brits will be in attendance (drunk and singing in unison) than Ward fans. Second, when there is a skill-level disparity, home field advantage is out the window. See Tarver -- Green for an example.
ur missing a huge point here AMERICANS DONT CARE IF SOMEONE S AN AMERICAN people in america tend to identify with whatever non american background they have, people dont look at a fight and think 'this american guy is fighting a foreigner' they will look at a fight and think this guy from whatever country they have roots in (say a columbian national) is fighting a guy who is puerto rican who happens to be american in america the entire sports world is different than the UK and all of europe, and there is also ZERO interest in a uk vs us rivalry (among the general populace) the one thing that may lead to people siding with ward due to nationality is the fact that he was an olympian, but the majority of americans will look at it as a black guy fighting a white guy, we dont get so nationalistic in terms of america vs whatever, its more ethnic background that people focus on here -- also stop saying HBO is protecting ward, hbo isnt even involved with this thing, its another network altogether
also why would they have had dirrell fight ward in the first round if they were trying to protect both of them?
