If Ward goes 5-0 and dominates the tournament can he lure Calzaghe out of retirement?

No way Calzaghe fights Ward. Sucks for him, because if Ward does go undefeated he is taking over the number spot 1 as the greatest Super Middleweight of all-time. He will bump Calzaghe to number 2.

well jeff lacey was getting far far more hype than ward and was americas next big superstar apparently. calzaghe took that fight, and look what he did to him.

It's funny how a win over a former Calzaghe victim generates so many Calzaghe threads. There are probably more Calzaghe threads than there are threads about the fight.

Calzaghe is and will stay retired. He doesn't need to come out of retirement for Ward. Lets see how far Ward goes before we proclaim him as the next big thing.

no, ward is too good. maybe if he was EXTREMELY overrated or over 40 years old, then calzaghe would have a good reason to come back.

add to that all 6 can still hypothetically win the tourney so imagine Taylor win or kessler? Or if others who won in He first round lose the next? That really would mess up he calculations of the A + B - C = D legacy busters lol

I've actually got Joe at more like 8th. It isn't how many fights you have but who you fight and when you fight them.

If you think two astute boxing observers like Joe and Enzo Calzaghe wouldn't see the difference between an opponent like Andre Ward, and an opponent like Jeff Lacy you're completely naive. You can insert the word "hype" in there for your own benefit, but don't do that for me. I had Calzaghe beating Lacy. Yeah, Joe took it. Look what the **** happened.

You could be right about Jermain fighting on.

The funniest thing is, Jermain will match up very well against Ward in the early going based on sheer athleticism. But Ward's superior skills, intelligence, and stamina will undoubtedly see him to victory.

    Ward KO12

    I think it's possible.
Joe has said, anyone gets him 10 million quid and he'll fight again.
Ward as a young American champion, ex gold medalist - could possibly generate that type of revenue. He'll also fancy himself against Ward.

Id be pretty surprised if Calzaghe could make 168 ever again. So its not even a possibility.

I continue to laugh at some of the comments. You really think Calzaghe wouldnt participate in a super 6 if it was way back? and more to the point....you really think an Andre Ward would actually beat him??(headshake)
