If Calzaghe accepts the challenge and thinks "**** it, one last time", Ward will regret it. Will your perception of Calzaghe change after he lands on Ward all night? In my eyes Calzaghe is the best smw of all time already. Beating Ward would just be for kicks, he does have a lot of haters though.
jesus christ. joe would have never stepped in the ring with someone like ward unless he got really old.
It would like after the Lacy fight i.e. "Lacy was hype" etc etc. It's what Americans do and it is utterly disgraceful behaviour.:dead:dead:dead:dead
I'd give Joe enormous credit. Coming out of a near 5 year retirement to take the Gold Medalists' 0 and straps? No one could deny him that.
I dont rate calzaghe that high now but if he beatward in his prime as an old man... Then NO ONE could deny him greatness
I would say Joe proved that he's much better than I've given him credit for,and I already rate him. It's a no win for Ward, and although the thread title suggests balanced discussion,it clearly wasn't meant to judging by the TS's posts.
It is a win for ward. Years down the line, it would just be "ward beat calzaghe". Not "shot calzaghe".
I have to agree that its a no-win fight for Ward. On the one hand, if Calzaghe won then Ward's reputation would be badly damaged by being beaten by a much older guy fresh out of a retirement that lasted over three years, and on the other hand, if Ward won nobody would give him any credit becuase he'd have beaten an old Calzaghe who'd been retired for over three years. Ward's got nothing to gain from a potential fight with Calzaghe, aboslutely nothing.
woulda, shoulda, coulda... that has a familiar ring in calzaghe threads, doesnt it? but seriously, if calzaghe took on and beat ward now then i would say all would be forgiven and he deserves full props for it
