If Ward won the Olympic Gold Medal at 175, why does he refuse to fight Kovalev?

I already opened enough threads about GGG/Ward. Short version:

    - Golovkin called out Ward in 2012 after his HBO debut.

    - Ward refused to fight and instead of fighting GGG, he commentated Golovkin vs. Macklin.

    - Ward fought Rodriguez for his comeback fight instead of GGG.

    - Ward was again inactive for more than a year.

    - Ward fights Paul Smith in his comeback, someone who lost twice to Abraham. Smith even rocked Ward for a moment.

    - Ward says he needs at least one or two more tune up fights before fighting GGG.

So, how exactly is GGG ducking Ward? :rofl Should he say:" Ok, Ward is my next opponent, I won't fight till 2017 when Ward is ready." :rofl

They don't allow to wear headgear and don't force uncomfortable gloves in professionals, so you are on your own against huge punchers for 12 rounds instead of 4.

You got a point. Wardette could easily move up to 175 and beat every man there, did you see what he did vs the reigning long time LHW champ Chad Dawson? He beat that boy so bad that he made him QUIT and softened him up for the pimp.

I'm pretty sure he's trying to eclipse Slappy Joe's career by being the best SMW of all time. I don't know why, that's a meaningless achievement. He needs to man up and fight KOvalev.

in a counter argument, the headgear really negated ward headbutting, he wasn't as effective without it

Moreover Olympic Light Heavyweight has a limit of 178lbs as opposed to 175lbs in pro boxing. So Ward fights 178 pounders at 20 years old but he's a natural 168 pounder at 30 years old. That's just not how nature works.

It's also worth mentioning that the 165 pound class at 2004 Olympics had more fierce competition with Gaydarbekov and Golovkin competing. It appears like he likes to take the easy route whenever possible. It's understandable, but he really needs to move up right now. He's a pretty good boxer anyway, there's no denying that. Just risk the damn 0, it's not everything.

Ward just fought at a catchweight of 172. HBO is tired of Ward and are giving him the option to either fight GGG or Kovalev or he isn't going to fight on their network according to Fat Dan so the fight will be made sooner than later against either guy and Ward likely gets his shaky Chin Shattered by either.

Ward should not have won that Gold, he got a gift against an Uzbek in the semi finals.

Let's be real for a second. Kovalev's cheen makes Ward's look like Ricardo Mayorga.. :yep

GGG has an excellent cheen, but like Mayorga and Margarito, it can be cracked if hit enough times. You saw how many times he got hit by that bum in his last fight, right? I have a gut feeling that GGG wasn't toying with him, he went life and death vs him and had a black eye. Wardette is perhaps the most accurate puncher today.. :yep
