If Ward won the Olympic Gold Medal at 175, why does he refuse to fight Kovalev?

Why did Ireland's best(Andy Lee) bend the knee and learn the slick style of American baaxing then?

He knew what time it was. :deal

Yes, exactly. They haven't won a medal since 2004 and still dominating baaxing.

That just shows the embodiment of the American SPIRIT. Murica, home of the brave, land of the free.

Because he knows a loss is inevitable, and a KO loss
at that. He's following maypickers career lead.

No, Ward and Dirrell are good friends. If they compete in the same division, they both can't win gold.

How is he a true 175 pounder?

LHW in the armatures starts at 75kgs. Thats 165 pounds which is Middle Weight in professional boxing:patsch

There is no SMW in the ams. If there was he would have fought there.

Whats GGG's problem? Why is he refusing to leave a terrible MW division and why won't he move up to get better fights?

I don't understand all of the criticism.

He chose to fight at SMW before anyone even knew who Kovalev was.

They are in different weight classes.

Ward can still have good fights at SMW.

    What's the problem?

Beyond that, has Kathy Duva ever contradicted her previous statement that her and Roc Nation were already in preliminary discussions for Ward and Kovalev to face off in 2016? She said she was optimistic both sides wanted the fight after talks, no? Of course a lot can change before then, but assuming neither man is derailed, it seems like both parties are game for this to eventually happen.

    It's been answered numerous times.

    Everyone's circumstances are different.

Ward is a SMW. And at this point in time, he's staying in that division.

But that doesn't mean that he's ducking Kovalev and a fight can't happen in the future.

A better question to ask, is why would he would he fight Kovalev now? He's been inactive and there's still good potential fights and titles to win at his current weight.

Exactly. Ray Leonard, Roy Jones, Ali, DLH, Mayweather all won/should of won gold at the Olympics and they're among the best boxers of all time.

Boxing overall has regressed, yet Murica still dominating baaxing. Look at what a slow one dimensional plodder like Danny Garcia has done. He beat up and knocked out the best fighters from Mehico, the UK and Argentina not because he's better than them, but simply because the American spirit runs through his veins.

We send garbage boxers out like Wilder and Garcia and look at what they have achieved. Murica just has a winning mentality, it's been like that for over a hunned years. Win win win, that's all that matters, and that's what Murica is all about.. :yep

Ward is a 168 pounder, GGG is at 160, if he moves up the fight can happen. Ward will move up to 175 at some point and fight Kovalev but it is just a case of waiting for it. Many boxers fight at different weights from amateur and pro, is Nathan Cleverly ducking Pacquiao because Cleverly fought at welterweight as an amateur?
