When are people going to learn that "calling out" is completely meaningless. Eubank relentlessly "called out" Golovkin. That went well.

What was it, a couple of weeks prior that Jacobs said he'd be ready in a year or 2?

Was this 1st pick? No. 2nd, 3rd? No.

By definition this is not a pick.

He had an opportunity to try and force a fight with Jacobs. If he suddenly said he didn't want it after all of his big talk the week before it would have been one of the most embarrassing climb downs in recent memory. Would he have done that? Maybe. Maybe not. GGG wins either way.

What we have now is another absolute farce at middleweight. Well done Canelo and well ****ing done Golovkin.

How do you know they didn't approach Jacobs? Negotiations aren't usually carried out in public, particularly where Al's concerned. As demonstrated by nobody having a clue about Brook until it was officially announced.

It seems implausible to think K2 haven't spoken to Al at some point, and incredibly naive to assume renewing talks on the basis of "but he sent a tweet though" will make any difference.

Also this Jacobs call out is a tenuous thing to hang your hat on, when there's actual facts demonstrating that GGG has been avoided by many others.

The UK is getting a rep for letting their nuts hang, my respect to them. Right now, the welterweight division is stronger than the middleweight division, big welters like Spence, Brook, or Thurman would beat most middleweights. Brook is a high quality welter, a true elite, there's a great chance he might go the distance with Ggg. And this being in the UK, anything can happen.

Personally I'd rather he try and make a fight with his fellow middleweights rather than fairly unproven welterweights but then maybe I'm a bit weird like that...

Why does it have to be one or the other?

is it THAT hard to find a credible guy at 168 or 154 lbs to fight Gennady?

If he's so adamant about never fighting a 168 guy until he's unified the MW division, than why not take on a 154 lb guy? I'm sure there's at least a few fighters that would be interested in fighting him.

It's crazy that someone of his skill set is taking on a guy 2 divisions beneath him. And no offense to Brook who is a very nice fighter, but aside from his competitive win against porter, who exactly has he defeated that makes him some kind of world beater?

Charlo brothers, Lara, Andrade and Trout all would've been much better competition for Gennady than any 147 lb fighter. I'm sure at least one of those guys would've been willing to fight him in September.

I share that desire to see GG fight “someone his own size” especially when he has been parading himself as the legit MW champ. GG said himself how he thought Canelo vs Khan was Bad for boxing due to Canelo’s "size advantage” lmao.

And what makes it worse is that it’s not like he didn’t have a fellow middleweight ready and willing to fight him. Eubank Jr was an acceptable opponent for GG. I doubt anyone would have complained had he fought Eubank Jr. I’m not even that terribly against GG vs Brook, it’s just the hypocrisy by his fans now instinctively defending this after all we’ve seen that is so hilarious.

So you're saying he didn't try to make a fight with a middleweight. That's novel.

Yup. Some of these GGG fans are as bad as the Mayweather/Pacquiao nutjobs that used to spray their rubbish around the forum a few years back.

One middleweight. He then rushed to take a fight with a welterweight with one good win at that weight. He could of, you know, have then tried to make a fight with someone else at 160...

In fairness, I think what Abel Sanchez was saying was that he was trying to make a fight at the O2 on Sept 10th, and if it wasn’t vs a U.K. fighter, then that would be pointless. On the other hand, he had TWO U.K. MWs to choose from ! Apparently BJS was offered to fight Golovkin as well. Reports are that BJS thought he wasn’t being offered enough.

The fact of the matter is that Golovkin had a chance to fight either Middleweight British Champ Eubank Jr or Middleweight WBO Champ BJS at a U.K. venue. Neither of those fights were made instead the only guy to agree to the terms was a welterweight lol. Regardless of who is to blame, that isn’t a good look for Golovkin.

“I’ll tell you what sort of fighter I am, I’m up, I’m straight and I’m honest. I fancy my chances with any 160 in the world. Any 160 – take him (Golovkin) out of the equation.”

“And I’m the sort of fighter who wants to win every single fight I fight in, and I know I can beat every 160. On my day I know I can beat them all – but minus him."

“But Golovkin? I want him to have another two years, go up and down in weight, have a few hard fights. Another two years when I’m 27, 28 – bang, then get him.”

LOL I know, I’m not putting that on Golovkin. I’m just trying to dispel the myth that there weren't other acceptable fights out there vs MWs. And despite those quotes, I’m reading reports dated yesterday that apparantly Saunders was apparantly in talks to fight Golovkin. (whether that’s true is anyone’s guess)

I think those quotes are being applied to other potential GG opponents, mainly Canelo. Lets be real, a lot of people heard those quotes from BJS and just assumed that Canelo wanted the same thing, for Golovkin to have some hard fights, for Golovkin to get older, etc.

For BJS to say that about Golovkin, well maybe he was being honest. Maybe he felt like he hadn’t reached his prime yet, and wasn’t ready for a fight of that magnitude. I think it’s important to point out that Canelo isn’t like that, and wouldn’t say that about fighting GG or anyone out there.

And it still doesn’t change the fact that there were actually TWO U.K. Middleweights out there to fight GG at the O2, and the only one who accepted was a welterweight lmao.
