Consider all the fact that a considerable number of Rocky's opponents had losing records.

    One guy had a 3-13 record. :-(

Can you get us the film of that fight? :smoke

Did Tyson fight three straight opponents with losing records less than two years from becoming champ?

    George Foreman did!

Nobody fought lesser regarded fighters than George Foreman did as #1 contender to Frazier.

Check out his 1972 competition. the barely breathing 4-15, "sorry" Terry Sorrell and 3-24 Clarence Boone.

Once Rocky beat a rated guy he hardly fought anything else.

Foreman fought 9 unrated guys in a row prior to his title shot.

In fact, how many people made such a quick transition from 3 losing records in a row to the world champion in 2 years?

Yancey could be onto something here, Rocky might just deserve more credit than he currently receives.

That's actually a pretty good point.

I used to make a point of collecting all the Sanders fights that I could, and as a result watched him smash up a succession of guys with ease. As a result I am pretty high on my opinion of him, certainly more so than most of the forum. Is this justified? Well, let's just say that seeing guys blasted off their feet doesn't do a boxer's case any harm.

So Rocky and Foreman were able to make a steep jump within a space of two years, did anyone else make such a jump?

Did Tyson win the WBC title 20 months after turning pro?
Did he unify the WBC and WBA titles 2 years after turning pro ?
Did he add the IBF title to his other 2 crowns 2.5 years after turning pro?
Was he only 21 years old when he accomplished these feats?

The Sorrel fight was a couple of months before Foreman's title challenge which was already signed.Marciano' s 17 fight was against Jimmy Evans who was 18-7-0, he had been kod in his previous fight and lost the one prior to that he would retire after the Marciano fight.
    Foreman's 17th opponent was Gregorio Peralta. 77-5-8
Peralta had drawn with Bonavena in his last fight.
Peralta had been rated no 10 the previous year.

We'd see Rocky KO'ing Johnny Shkor and folks could pretend it's him destroying a prime Lennox Lewis or Vitali Klitschko!

And Keene Simmons and LaStarza I.

Shkor had won 3 of his previous 11 fights and had been ko'd in1 round by Walcott in his last fight.
