So where is proof of your FACTS that Whitaker was no.1 p4p in Ring Mag prior to the DLH fight? I'm still waiting.

There's KO's rankings near the end of 1996. Let me guess, Roy went up to no.1 after getting DQ'ed against Montell Griffin, Whitaker went to number 2 after nearly losing to Hurtado and DLH went to number 3 after dominating Miguel Angel Gonzalez

Don't worry more proof is on the way of you being full of **** :good

I hold wins over Barrera/Marquez/Morales in tremendous regard, and I do think wins at lower weights are overshadowed simply b/c of the lower weight.

But man, I can't get out of my mind how ORDINARY Sweet Pea made Chavez/Nelson/McGirt look...as well as other very good fighters such as Ramirez/Pineda/Haugen/vazquez.

I guess my point is, they both dominated unquestionably GREAT opposition, but I give an edge to Whitaker for his DOMINANCE over that competition. It was amazing to watch.

Well, what makes Armstrong so amazing is that he didnt gradually add on weight and build bulk- he just went along and did it.

He won those 3 titles at the same time, drew for a fourth, and never in his career did he weight 147.

    1937- Lightweight title- 124 lbs
    1938- Welterweight title- 133.5 lbs
    1938- Lightweight title- 134 lbs
    1940- Middleweight title- 142 lbs

    absolutely incredible

Haha, I love the way in one post you've said that "officially" Pea Vs JCC was a draw and then wondered off into a dreamland by speculating if Cortez had stopped JMM after 1 round!! At least keep the post consistent.

No matter how you spin it, Whitaker beat Chavez more decisively than Pac beat JMM in both fights (I had Pac winning fight 1 and JMM winning fight 2).

Just talked to a mate that has the Ring issues of the time and he said that before the Whitaker-DLH fight, they were 1. Roy, 2. DLH, 3. Pete.

DLH went to number 1 after the Whitaker fight and not before because Jones-Griffin I and Pea-DLH were reported in the same issue.

There was no alternating between positions 2 and 3 with Whitaker in 1997. Whitaker remained third and DLH went from 2nd to 1st.

I'm not using these figures as a proof to the validity of the rankings, I'm simply using them to settle what was official at the time.

Your initial claim that Whitaker was first, was wrong. Your amended claim that Whitaker was alternating between 2 and 3 throughout 1997 is also wrong, both for KO and Ring Magazines. My claim that DLH was first before the Whitaker fight was wrong in so far as Ring Mag is concerned. He was however first in KO Magazine.

Was McGirt's shoulder ruined before or after the first fight with Whitaker?

All in all, putting Pac amongst the top 20 boxers that ever fought (let alone top 10) is being a little hasty, especially when Pac has yet to beat another guy within the top 60/70.

These rankings suck balls! Im a Hopkins fan but no way he cracks the top 10. Maybe early 20s. Where the **** is Duran,Willie Pep,Charles(who owned Moore). Hey im not some Old fart who thinks todays fighters are inferior but You obviously started watching boxing like 10 years ago.
Although i think you can make a case for Manny being in the top 10. He is alot more popular right know and appreaciated than Pernell was when he was in his prime,so that just go"s to show me that 10 years from know Manny will definitly be considered an elite Atg. Even if he were to lose to Mayweather knowledegable expert will still take into consideration everything else hes done. Believe me when Pernell was fighting no one was mentioning him in the top 20 much less top 10 like now.

Not everyone gets a more favourable reception after they have gone than in their time.

Just look at Chavez, who was always above Whitaker in p4p charts. There were even several people questioning whether Chavez was better than Sugar Ray Robinson during his time. But who, on the whole, is more highly regarded now: Chavez or Whitaker?

Chavez's own fault. He couldn't stay away from the bitches, the booze and the coke. In ODLH's book he talks about going out for his morning run at 5 am and seeing JCC just coming back to the hotel with two bitches on his arm, and wearing a fur coat pimp daddy style.
