Would their be a craving for a 4th fight? Would Wilder actually go for someone else, AJ etc? And would that actually be the end of Tyson Fury? We're surmising that Wilder gets a win of course. Which, with the messing around with this fight could actually happen!
This is what scares me, if Wilder won he'd duck Aj and would just fight Luis Ortiz again and a bunch of plumbers. We do not want that. I hope Fury demolishes him
Well the chances are, that Fury wins, but it's not impossible that he knackers it all up. Then we have that scenario that you described maybe. Not good for boxing.
The rope is ready Pretty sure Wilder is going to collapse from shock when Fury does an intimidation job on his ring walk which will be 2nd this time. This content is protected
Would be a catastrophe for the division. I know there's a lot of arsing about surrounding the Joshua fight but I think they intend to fight eventually. I'm pretty sure Wilder would dodge Joshua like his life depended on it, although I reckon he's got a good punchers chance ironically.
It doesn't matter how much craving there would be, there won't be a 4th. Wilder won't risk that belt if he gets it back - he'll claim he won the first and that makes it 2-1, then he'll go back to knocking out journeymen and gatekeepers and avoid genuine contenders like the plague... Or go back to his pre-Fury career as if the trilogy had never happened.
Because Fury as champion is great for the division and the sport, taking his craft seriously, dedicating himself to the sport, conducting himself well, defending his title regularly, only fighting the best, not taking PEDs, never cancelling or pulling out of fights, never lying to the public, never taking drugs... Yes you're right anyone but Fury being champion is terrible for the sport!
I have an awful feeling Fury gets KO'd, a fourth, even fifth fight, neither ever face Whyte or Joshua, they just fight each other and retire. Fury goes to live in America where he gets plenty of mileage as a commentator/personality/mental health ambassador. I don't think either Fury or Wilder are interested in losing to AJ, unless it's a swansong money grab. Maybe I'm being pessimistic but I kinda see the pieces falling into place now....
The point isn't that Fury being champion is great for the sport, it's that Wilder holding the belt hostage to knock out a procession of journeymen and the odd gatekeeper is really bad for the sport. Fury fights his share of cans too, but he's not going to run a mile from Joshua, Whyte, etc either... Odds are he vacates or gets stripped for inactivity - after which hopefully someone with ambitions to actually fight contenders.
Who has Fury beat since he got the belt? Don't come back with Wilder! According to the Fury fans, Wilder is worthless. Fury's run as champ is horrible. So, Wilder fighting Ortiz is a step up in comp compared to the guys Fury has fought.
