He'll add some goodies to my Burger Squad Dossier next weekend.

    A "GOOD" win???:huh

Potvetkin has without argument, the second best resume N of LHW, second only to a top 5 ATG HW named Dr Wladimir Klitschko.

People typically recognize Tyson Fury as the HWCotW, since he has added Wlad to his own resume, but let's be as serious as we can here.

In the past 24 months, Wladimir Klitschko has fought Kubrat Pulev, Bryant Jennings, and Tyson Fury.
Wlad looked an absolute beast vs Pulev and looked as if perhaps, if only holding out for a string of HOPE, Wladimir Klitschko was back to the pre Brewster Klitschko who was ripping top HWs to shreds, beating them behind the jab/cross or off the hook-jab.
Turns out, upon review, if wasn't so much that Wladimir was back to his pre-Manny form, but rather that Pulev chose to fight completely outside of his typical, methodical, but effective form. It was obvious it backfired as Wlad found an open home for his L hook and proved it was still devastating.
Then there was Bryant Jennings. A fighter that most ESB fans had grown to love for many reasons. A Philly fighter with tons of heart, a great style reminiscent of an Evander Holyfield who would get up inside and give and take vs anyone, but unlike the REAL DEAL, Jennings had neither the amatuer background, nor the chin to pull it off at the top level, and while Wladimir won the fight clearly, he failed to do what he should have, and it looked obvious to me at least, from a completely objective standpoint, that Wladimir Klitschko had slowed.
The Fury fight....well....I like Fury, and I'd like to see him play hot potato with the titles in the post K2 era, but unlike Joshua, Parker, and Wilder, Fury lacks the dedication and hunger to hang around. Wlad was not only a slowed physical fighter on the night, but a distracted fighter as well, a new father, a new husband, with a wife struggling depression.
That said, combining all those factors, the Fury win over Wlad holds little weight IMO. A good win yes, but nothing compared to Potvetkin, whom I will dissect next.

Since his early rise to the top of the HW division, Potvetkin has fought STELLAR opposition, if some were only journeymen.
Mahone, Ahunanya, Firtha, Bostice, Byrd, Chambers, and Donald, Oruh, Estrada, Nolan, and Sykes.

These NAMES twice put him on path to title fights with Wladimir Klitschko, but rather than fighting a prime Klitschko in his 15th fight, Potvetkins team opted out, and for good reason.
Whenever Potvetkin grabbed the minor title, it was only a matter of time, but that said, it was obvious from that fight up to and including the Wlad fight that Potvetkin was taking training a little less seriously than he should have been, fighting almost exclusively on natural talent heart, rather that focusing on improvements and becoming a more adaptable fighter, being able to change gears mid fight, adapt to a different pace or style, and he looked horribly underprepared against Wlad, who allowed Potvetkin to continually fall into traps, mixing in his usual falling onto his opponent.:patsch

That said, that was then, and this.....well....this is now.

Since his embarrassing defeat at the chest of Wladimir Klitschko, Potvetkin has completely redefined himself as a fighter, taking off 20 lbs of fat, and transforming that fat into 20lbs of lean muscle, improving his handspeed, his footwork, and obviously his overall power.
He's beaten 4 top 5-25 fighters, all of whom fell in dominating fashion.

His absolute annihilation of highly touted, mostly considered, iron-chinned Mike Perez, astounded the boxing world as Sasha found an early angle to land the R hand, and used his newfound killer instinct to assure himself that Perez craftiness would not factor in the fight.

His ability to close range while take little damage was notable in the Wach, Takam, and Charr fights, of which he had notable reach disadvantages, but instead of allowing these guys use their best attributes, Potvetkin rather imposed his own fight on them, by using footwork to perfection, angles to land set-up shots from which he would ultimately get the distance to drive home his power.

The HW division appears to be wide open atm, but the winner of this fight will be HEAD and SHOULDERS above the rest of the division in terms of "what have you done lately?":good

Just saying.....Deontay, traveling to Moscow, and beating this version of Alexander Potvetkin, would not be a good win, it would be a career changing win, of which, IMO, would catapult him into the p4p lists, and potentially, depending on HOW, particularly, if he should win in dominant fashion, first boxing smart, then dropping and stopping Potvetkin, into PPV status, especially should names like Browne, Fury, Joshua, or Klitschko be involved. :thumbsup

No, they'll just rewrite history, and dangle another boogieman like an anvil over coyote in looney toons. That said, there's competition on who can get a fight against Fury if he gets past Klitschko so this fight certainly matters a lot. I'm glad to see some are getting cold feet and are already calling Povetkin some type of bum that should be easily dispatched, before his execution.

When Wilder gets to Russia I hope his team keeps a good eye on him. I would be very careful about what and where you eat and drink. During the weigh in if some unknown guy hands you a water bottle don't drink it.:dead Its things like these I hope Team Wilder are privy to.

Yeah I certainly would. It'll be interesting to see how it goes, though regardless I think Wilder has proven himself as a legit danger in HW now.

How is it wilders fault if povetkin comes outta shape or gets old over night? He still should get respect and credit for beating a #3 contender in his hometown. All wilder has done was beat who was put in front on him...how can you "hate" on that?
