This is something that just saddens me about DW. Hes very physically gifted and is blessed with natural power but skill wise hes shat! If he had good footwork he could just stay behind his jab and crush guys with that right hand when they come in or just catch them at will from the outside. But reality is that he is not a guy who is dedicated to his craft as hes admitted as much and its obvious from the lack of improvement since he first hit the scene several years ago.
who did i pick to beat wilder? i don't avoid this site over results of any fight. i don't give a damn about anyone on here's opinion of me. i don't spend every day on here. i have a job, a gf, and a life.
Huh? The correct scorecard for Ortiz-Scott was 120-105, and Ortiz didn't even break a sweat. And Wilder didn't turn down the Whyte(who arguably lost to faded Chisora) fight to fight Stiverne, he turned it down to fight Ortiz that day. Stiverne got the fight on short notice after Ortiz tested positive. And It was a mandatory defence. This is an opponent that can KO Wilder and It's the best available opponent out there. He deserves credit for voluntarily takin this fight instead of wasting everyone's time with another unnecessary defence against another mediocre opponent(and a fight with Whyte would be just that, another unnecessary defence against another mediocre opponent).
Wilder would not fight Ortiz unless he has been assured that he will win the fight, all Wilder has to do is run, the judges have already filled out their cards......................however, Breazeale is waiting on the sidelines, he qualified by getting knocked out by Joshua and is owned by Haymon!
Does anyone know if Deontay got rematch options on Ortiz? This is not a mandatory defense so I would assume they got 2-3 options on Ortiz for getting this fight made?
They're both with Haymon, so even without a rematch clause, Wilder would get the rematch pretty easily. Also, the WBC would probably make him mandatory.
Luis Ortiz time is up this year, the devastating bronze bomber gonna can whoop this senior citizen back to the pension home!
Awarding him credit for taking on a top contender in a thinly talented division isn’t necessarily needed however given your unadulterated disdain for the man it shouldn’t provide you material to criticize him more. It’s a good choice and a step up from previous competition. It doesn’t remove or clear him of his past transgressions but it’s a leap in the right direction for his career and HW boxing. I don’t see why you insists on dwelling on the negative.
