If Wilder had fought the guys Joshua has, what would his record be?

I think a big difference would of been the quality of the amateur system in the UK compared to the US. As a top amateur he trained at the English institute of sport, had access to top trainers, nutritionists, physios etc. He would of also received a salary. Nicola Adams in one interview mentioned how meals would be delivered to her, they literally would of covered everything there are top pro's who probably don't have this level of quality training and facilities. Plus Joshua likely had much better sparring, as we all know he sparred Tyson Fury as an amateur when Fury was a pro, I suspect he sparred other pro's as well, in fact I know it he sparred Price as well.

Wilder in comparison would of not had any of this and so as you say Joshua would of gotten a far better foundation early on compared to Wilder.

Our amateur system is in tatters. Very few gyms, no funding to speak of. It really is a major reason boxing is on the upswing in the UK and the downswing in the US.

AJ didn't have an extensive amateur either.

Joshua was 40-3, Wilder was 30-5, so only 8 fights more, not a big difference.

Wilder would have definitely been KO'd by Povetkin and Whyte.

I rate Wilder today, but to answer the OP's question, I'd think he'd definately would've picked up a loss somewhere along the line of Joshua's opponents. But in all honesty, that doesn't matter to me much, since I'm quite comfortable accepting that learning & experience curves can be quite different for individuals. The Ortiz bout raised Wilders status for me, while the Klitschko bout raised Joshua's for me. That Wilder needed 40 bouts and Joshua only 19 to answer some questions, doesn't matter much to me.

That said, Joshua still is ahead for me with regard to their respective résumé's

Only fight I would have been a little worried about would have been Wlad.

Only one he would have arguably lost to is Klitschko if he dropped that hammer on him. Aside from that, probably the same as Joshuas

He goes to war with whyte but knocks him out
He makes hard work of Dommy brezzy but wins a UD or sparks him
He goes 12 rounds with parker or might knock him out late but that's a very low chance
He gets KTFO by that wlad
    He gets KTFO BY povetkin

Totally this, I think the only likely issues would be similar to povetkin for aj, if it's a cagey first couple of rounds Ortiz wins them but when AJ comes forwards and does his usual "Oh right, time to throw some punches now.. ." he just destroys anybody...

Yeah, Brighton pointed that out to me above. I looked at the number of years, not the number of fights, and made an assumption.

Brighton also pointed out that the support AJ had as an amateur far exceeded what Wilder had. The fact AJ came out of the ams so polished yet Wilder was so fundamentally flawed really made me think AJ had a long amateur career. He obviously spent more time on his craft, even if he spent similar time in the ring.

I think it's because Joshua is just naturally a more intelligent and talented fighter.

He obviously listens to instruction better. Wilder's handlers have to have preached the need for better foot and hand placement. I saw Breland's career, he was technically sound. Yet Wilder keeps making the same fundamental mistakes he did early in his career.

    He would have lost to:

    Whyte.
    Martin.
    Breazeale.
    Klitschko.
    Parker.
    Povetkin.
