Why are you all so desperate to see him step up? Surely if he's a 'bum' as so many of you say, why are you bothered that he's fighting other 'bums'. If you think he's crap he has no reason to step up as he's fighting people who are also crap and on his level. when he eventually does step up to a good level (cue jokes about being 38 by the time that happens etc) and if he wins, what will everyone say then? Will people have to admit that he's at least decent?

I can't even understand the hatred as he's not even being hyped up by his promoter as the next world champ and his next fight isn't even being televised is it?

People moan about wlad being boring and then the same people moan about wilder even though he's exciting and could potentially have some exciting fights in the future. Bottom line is if you want him to step up then by the same token he must be a few levels above the guys he's fighting and therefore hes at least an average heavyweight, can't have it both ways.

Deontay Wilder is actually much better than his haters are saying.

He's over-protected though, probably for the purpose of keeping his KO streak alive. That gives ammunition those who don't like him.

Wilder is fully capable of beating better opponents. He'll be a force to be reckoned with when he finally steps up.

21 amateur fights before Olympics? 49 rounds as a pro. He's had hardly any time in the ring. Yes he needs to step up but at the same time he can be rushed and become another David Price.

I want him to step up so I can laugh when he gets exposed as the bum that he is.

The thing about Wilder is we really don't know how good he is after almost 5 years and 29 fights. He could be the next dominant heavy or the next fighter to be exposed which is why so many people want him to step up, to see if he's the real deal or another never was.

Because we don't know anything about how good he really is people will look to both extremes. Some will see how he is destroying everyone and say he's potentially great, while others will say he's fought nobody and is being protected for a reason. Until he does finally steps up we will continue to have this debate.

He's only as bad as the Wlad fans say. Real fans say he is an untested puncher.

True would be horrible to see him jump up too far like price who went from domestic level to an experienced world class operator and get beaten.

While he definitely needs to step up, it must be done gradually. He learned nothing from the first 4 years of his career he must be seen as still a relative novice despite all his fights and the length of his career. He has so far been horribly managed.

I'd like to see him up against someone durable but light hitting or with a low work rate just to take him some rounds. He's only had 48 rounds in 5 years, which compared to Huhie Fury who has had 38 rounds in 7 months as a pro. Wilder desperately needs more rounds, hopefully Firtha can take him beyond the 4th, but I doubt it.

    thats the problem
he is signed by the biggest promotion and the first medalist from an american heavyweight in 20 years and they dont hype him at ALL. as a promoter they should be saying this is the next heavyweight champ! but no, catch his next undercard showing on showtime extreme if you can find that channel . they would rather air on the main channel karo murat vs hopkins and gabe rosado vs quillen :rofl
    amazing

mike tyson was headling ABC Wide World of Sports after 18 fights, not fighting on a Mathew Saad Muhammad undercard off tv :rofl

An untested puncher who got knocked down by Harold Scorniers and Dustin Nicholls who both apparently train by visiting all you can eat buffets.

He's only done 49 rounds in 5 years because a good percentage of the guys he's fought wouldn't even get licensed anywhere that has half decent standards regarding peoples health and safety and/or what constitutes someone being good enough to fight at pro level.

Plus he's 28 now, it's about time he stepped up.

For many fans it's important he has to step up because it's complete nonsense to let him punch out completely overmatched or over the hill bums in 3 rounds or less.
We know he hits hard. But can he beat guys that can actually box, or is he indeed another Price (or worse)?

And why so many K2 fans want to see him step up is as clear as day. He's American, and if he does well when they're gone, he or the one that KO's his caboose will be hyped beyond belief.
Better nail him now to be added to their legacy before retirement.

He's a tall, fast, hard puncher. Sloppy as anything, but exactly the sort of guy who's supposed to threaten Wlad. It would be nice to get one or two more guys like that on Wlad's resume for legacy purposes.

Yeah all that is true, but my point is that usually boxers get hate from being overhyped by their promoters and clearly that's not the case with wilder.

I see a lot of people say 'wilder is a bum, he needs to stop fighting cab drivers' but if he is a bum why are they so concerned with him. I don't remember anyone crying that Dmitry Salita needed to step up, and if you listen to wilders critics you'd think they were the same level. What I'm saying is the people who call him a bum and then say he needs to step up in the next breath are complete hypocrites seeing as If he were as bad as they claim then they wouldn't be saying he needs to step up in the first place.

Nah I think he's an exciting fighter with a lot of power, would have thought that most boxing fans enjoy watching that kind of fighter. I think he'd lose to a lot of top 10 guys at the moment but I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of a lot of fans.
